Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.
We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Tap at Bayou Beer Garden, New Orleans, LA, USA. Pours golden, transparent, with medium grained white foam. Aroma is quite fruity, strawberries. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is moderately sweet, the strawberries being evident, but still moderate, not overcharging the beer. Final is average.

Bottle, hazy pale with just maybe an orange tint. White head big and foamy then goes short and craggy. Nose is big sweet IPA hoppy perfume permeated the entire environment. First taste is hoppy bitter blast with an odd followup of something vanilla. Mouthcoating and creamy, not sure if this goes together but I don't care for IPA in the first place so I guess the vanilla aint helpen matters much. Slightly boozy with a warming sensation down the back of the throat and into the gullet. Not sure if I get this mess, its kinda of a blend of IPA and pastry. And guess what, I dislike those pastry bombs too. Weird, uncanny, strange, different and mysteriously unnatural. Barely tolerable for a macro pale lager lover. Whew. Won't buy this stuff again. Didn't drain pour but this was a difficult tick. Good thing it had some alky content at least. Somebody, please give me a cheap cold crisp macro pale american lager for a chaser, hehehehh. There. you have it.
