Description
WAYFINDER BEER is a new brewery project in Portland, Oregon. We have transformed a 8,900 square feet of a century-old brick warehouse in Portland's Central Eastside into a classic destination for beer and food lovers.

Wayfinder is the brainchild of Charlie Devereux (co-founder of Double Mountain Brewery), Matthew Jacobson (co-founder/owner of Sizzle Pie, Quality Bar, and Relapse Records) and Rodney Muirhead (co-founder/owner of Podnah's Pit and La Taq). Our mission: to bring simple and authentic pleasures of the highest quality to the Rose City and beyond.

Guests to Wayfinder will find enjoyment in our 110-seat taphall, or outside on our massive patio. Our menu of handcrafted comfort food features deliciousness from a custom wood-fired grill. We're using our four-vessel, 10-barrel brewhouse to create world-class lagers and ales for onsite enjoyment and wholesale distribution.

473mL can, pours a clear blonde with a medium white head. Aroma is gentle, with herbal/grassy hops, crisp biscuity malt, and some straw. Flavour is very light on the smoke -- just seems like a normal helles in this regard -- with gentle grassy hops, toasted grains, and straw. The smoke is super subtle. Pleasant stuff.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated October 27, 2023. Aroma is hop forward with nice citrus, stone fruit and lighter floral notes.wity hints of melon. Light cracker malt notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a very clear, brilliant, yellow-gold with a large, thick, fluffy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. High amount of lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light cracker malt notes. Moderately strong bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong citrus and stone fruit hop notes with quite a bit of a floral character as well. Lighter dank, resin, pine notes that linger into the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation and a fairly crisp, dry finish. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid IPA that is definitely crisp and easy drinking. I think I prefer IPAs with a stronger hop aroma and flavor, but this is really nice and works well with the clean, crisp malt notes.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated September 22, 2023. Aroma is hop forward with moderately strong hop notes of strawberry, stone fruit and hints of citrus. Light dank, resin notes. Hints of cracker malt notes and light alcohol notes. Pours a slightly hazy, pale, yellow gold with a large, thick, fluffy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Moderately high lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light grain notes. Fairly high bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderate hop notes with light strawberry, stone fruit and citrus notes. Moderately strong, lingering, dank, resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a crisp, dry finish and medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid cold IPA. I like the aroma, but the fruitiness is lost behind the dank, resin notes in the flavor. Crisp, dry finish. Not my favorite hop profile in the flavor.

On tap at Chuck's Hop Shop - Seward Park, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals bright grassy, piney hops, some herbaceous notes, and doughy, biscuity malt. Flavour is crisp and bright, with grassy hops, some pine, doughy malt, and a crisp biscuity malt. More like a hoppy pale than a pilsner. It doesn't have the pils-like crispness, but it is undeniably hopped nicely. Good.

Can from Tavour. Pours translucent amber with a decent white head. Light aroma of pie spice. Approaching med body. Malty, but dryish. Lightly bitter with very light pie spice. I can imagine squash. Perhaps too subtle for me. Tho pie spice builds. I am not with the majority on this one.
