Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is of sweet malts with an ever so slight touch of caramel. Flavor is some more dry grain with again a bit of caramel. Not really great but better than i expected. I’m sure this may even be better fresh half way around the world.

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Straw with a thin white head; aroam is sweet and rather unpleasant with touches of grain and rice; thin and watery with a sweet taste with some rice and damp cardboard to finish. Not bad, but I don’t think I’ll be seeking this out again.

11.2 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors. Pours a brownish red color with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Very sweet and almost sherry-like aroma with sweet malts, oak, grain and tart fruit notes. Taste is grain, raisin, prune, chocolate and a faintly bitter finish. Medium bodied and sticky.

12oz bottle courtesy of Ann. Pretty medium colored for a dark beer, transparent tan-brown color. Mild sugary sweet aroma. Toasty, some mild dark chocolate tastes. I’d drink the hell out of this beer if I resided in Laos. Smooth, with a quality mouthfeel. This is pretty harshly underrated. A nice Schwarzbier all the way.

The best Laotian beer I have ever tasted. of course, also the ONLY one. A thin, dark, watery beer with barely perceptible hops. No need to search for more Laotian beer.

Bottle at an oriental restaurant in Bristol. Straw coloured with a slight white head. Grainy, sweet malt aroma. Flavour was a bit corny, with some hay and a few hops in the finish. An inoffensive lager.

Dragged all the way from Laos by my family, thats true love. It pours clear copper/amber (not quiet what the name "Dark’ usually evokes) with a small head. Aroma is light corn, sticky cheap malt liquor, sweat and a macro-ish feel all around. Not bad but very third world of course. Taste is similar but a but easier to drink then expected from the aroma. Hey a beer from Laos could be much worse. Definitely not a schwarz... is amber malt liquor a style?
33cl bottle, Russian River wine-like glass.
