Smells of sweet licorice, some coffee and molasses. Has a dark brown body and vague beige foam on top. Flavour is very sweet chocolate icing. SImple and oozing booze. Bourbon isn't prominent at first but then becomes overbearing. There's also some sweet black coffee in there. Mouthfeel is kind of weak for what should be a daunting oily beer. This is not the best attempt at this style in this area.

On tap in Moody. Smells of weak soft malts. Has a medium metallic brown body with little head. Flavour is middling malts of no distinction. Mouthfeel is kind of cloying. This is a classic Faculty brew, weak and boring.

Smells softly of lemony grain, has okay mellow gold body with only a hint of foam. Flavour is nice juiciness, only a hint of salt. Full on the mouth. Very refreshing on a warm afternoon.

Has a near perfect white foam on top of a cloudy light orange body. Smells of good sweet juicy hops. Flavour is nice sweet heavy hops, some vegetable notes and no malts within city limits. Mouthfeel is good fullness with some vague crispness. This is a decent drinkable IPA and the abv is invisible.

Cask. Dark brown with a thick sparkler head. Nutty, light chocolate on the nose. Soft body, but it does get a little soupy. I suspect underlying diacetyl or a line problem. But either way this falls apart soon after you start drinking.

Dark brown. Bitter, chocolate, citrus hops, and a bit woody. I would say a solid example of the style

On tap at Moody, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a medium light brown head. Aroma brings out highly roasted malt with a robust piney hop character. Flavour is quite harsh and bitter, with lots of roasted malt and bittering hops, though the hops are more bitter than flavourful, and the roast is just harsh. A rathe amateur, jagged black IPA.

Hazy blond colour. Very nice aroma, fruity, white grapes, fresh, very light earthy hops. Good body, the mouthfeel is lightly soapy; there are some vegetables traces, undermining the few qualities of the hop, a bit piney.
Decent.

Black colour. Aroma of smoke and smoked ham. The body is thinner than it could be desired at this ABV, but understandable knowing the base beer; roasted malt character, some chocolate mostly in the end, moderate smoke, hint of butter.
Good but not impressive.

Dark amber colour, hazy. Moderately malty, moderately sweet; but the yeast has a bit of that bubblegum character found in American Dubbels.
Good beer.
