On tap at the Boise BP In a snifter, black with a ring of light tan ’head". Nice roasted chocolate tootsie roll aroma. Fruity and boozy flavor. Sweet, and lots of chocolate and raisins/prunes. Definitely doesn’t taste like 75 IBUs, The flavors and palate don’t quite keep up with the pretty high ABV.

On tap at the Boise BP. In a snifter a medium orange/amber with a nice sandy head and heavy clumpy lacing. Mostly just a sweet malty aroma. A little peppery spice in the flavor, but the description is good, its a good "pepper starter" beer. Pretty basic "amber" base, fairly sweet and soft, with a medium peppery sizzle from first sip to lingering spicy trailer.

On tap at the Boise BP. Served in a snifter, a slightly hazy orange, with a thin but fine creamy off-white head. Awesome grapefruit peal aroma with a little brown sugar caramel sweetness. Mostly bitter flavor, not as citrusy as I was hoping. More bitter pine and resiny. Medium bodied and a long lingering bitter bite.

Nice deep copper coloured body with a light brown glow, some hints of deep amber and a tint of ruby, all with a perfect, three centimetre tall tan head - this one is very nice looking. Aroma of alcohol, oak, rye, tobacco, bright hops and plenty of sugars. Full-bodied; Deep, super pungent alcohol and rye flavours with a lot of caramel, banana, clove, yeast and pit fruit flavours - very cloying on the finish and almost a meal in itself. Aftertaste shows a nice hoppy flavour with a lot of rye, somehow even more alcohol and a deep, syrupy, resinous, oaky and very dry rye and vanilla finish. Overall, a very pungent and super strong beer with some nice complexities and a solid balance between sweet, malt, oak and alcohol. I wish this was just in a small format bottle - the density and gravity of this beer is just too much to handle in 65 cL! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$12.47 sampled at home in Washington on 01-September-2013.
