Description
Verboten, which opened in early 2013, is a true boutique brewery. The Sixteen tap handles, including one Nitro tap, rotate often so that new beers can be introduced every few weeks. The brewery also uses as much seasonal and local ingredients as possible in each of our handcrafted ales. At Verboten, we create unique beers taking typical beer styles and adding our own twist to make our constantly rotating selections new and exciting.

Tap at the brewery - black pour with a small lace - aroma of bitter dark malt, baker’s chocolate, caramel, light salt, cookie - flavor is dry, bitter black malts and strong roast, but without the acid and astrigency that can come along.with these flavors - very mild salt and no caramel to speak of in the flavor - just tastes like a solid porter with a strong mineral character - very tasty.

Tap at the brewery - marketed as a "dark cream ale" - nose of toffee, tobacco, earthy/leafy notes, hazelnut - flavor of hazelnut, tobacco, vanilla, moderate bitterness, light toffee - dry finish of roasted nuts, mild bitterness, light mineral - interesting and tasty brew.

Tap at the brewery - turbid gold - not your typical gose - no tartness to speak of - it’s actually fairly sweet - the nose has some nice tartness and a salty bite, but the flavor lacks much of this character - sweetness, moderate wheat, mild coriander - very subtle mineral - frothy carbonation - quite yeasty - disappointing.

Tap at the brewery - turbid gold - the fruit addition here.is subtle, which is why I listed it as a wheat ale - aroma is tangy wheat, lightly tart rhubarb, mildly sweet strawberry - flavor is mostly wheat, bready malt, mild yeast - very mild strawberry and earthy and tart rhubarb - interesting brew.
