Description
Verboten, which opened in early 2013, is a true boutique brewery. The Sixteen tap handles, including one Nitro tap, rotate often so that new beers can be introduced every few weeks. The brewery also uses as much seasonal and local ingredients as possible in each of our handcrafted ales. At Verboten, we create unique beers taking typical beer styles and adding our own twist to make our constantly rotating selections new and exciting.

Tap - a tripel with pears? - sure, why not? - it actually works fairly well - it’s abit sweet, understandably, but the pear character works well with the yeast esters and noble hops - there are some earthy and peppery phenolics to cut the.sweetness slightly - floral and moderately sweet finish - pretty nice, actually.

On tap @ Verboten. Pours a deep brown / black appearance with a thin tan head. Aroma is full of tannins, dark grape, smoke, oak, chocolate, and caramel. Kind of boozy. Pretty spicy flavor. Apple / cinnamon, oatmeal, dark chocolate, woody taste. Dull carbonation but not bad. Ok.

On tap @ Verboten. Pours a hazy, dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Caramel, apple, toffee, roasted malt in the aroma. A little goopy on the palate. Pretty high sweetness. Dull bitterness. Thick malty flavor. Lots of caramel and toffee. Some fruity notes. A bit boozy on the finish. Eh.

On tap @ Verboten. Pours a cloudy yellow orange appearance with a white head. Salt and dill and rosemary in the nose. Really mostly just dill- it’s super potent. The flavor is a little more sweet. Some tangerine citrus and light floral notes. Otherwise, it’s just a drink that mostly only tastes of dill. I wouldn’t drink this again but it’s not gross either.

On tap @ Verboten. Pours a deep brown with a thin head. Definitely some tannins, leather, and grainy oak in the nose along with vanilla, coconut, and some booze. Very light whiskey, dark grape, plum, leather, fig flavor. Finishes a little strong and boozy. Some chocolate and roast but really takes on a lot of tannins. Carbonation is a bit dull. Fine but not exactly my thing.

On tap @ Verboten. Pours a hazy golden appearance with a white head. Some spicy hops in the nose. Citrus, grapefruit, and biscuit in the nose as well. The hops are a bit spicy in the flavor but not too strong. Some citrus. Pretty sessionable. Light cracker notes. A touch soapy. Fine but not something I’d go out of my way to try again.
