18th Street Brewery was founded as a home brewery by Drew Fox in 2010. After years of hands-on learning and exploration, 18th Street Brewery became official with the release of Sinister DIPA in 2013. Shortly after the Sinister release, we opened a 3,200 square foot brewpub in Gary, IN. Quickly outgrowing that space, we purchased a 32,000 square foot warehouse in Hammond, IN. Our Hammond location now houses our production, packaging, barrel program, a taproom and a full service kitchen. Our original Gary, IN now houses a small 10-barrel open fermentation system, as well as a taproom, craft cocktail bar and kitchen.
We are currently the second largest brewery in Northwest Indiana. Our beers range from saisons to double India Pale Ales to double milk stouts to pilsners and lagers. 18th Street is comprised of hard working, motivated individuals who strive to be the best. We love our jobs. We love our beer. We live and love what we do.

Mostly clear, fairly deep copper and bronze coloured body with a slight haze at the top, all underneath a pretty thick three to four centimetre tall, microfoamed head that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of grass, hay, flowers, biscuits, light yeast and bread with a hint of alpha acids and bitterness, but this smells much more like a saison than anything else. Light to Medium-bodied; Very crisp and grassy, dry malts come first, with a soft lemon and citrus profile, with a kick of yeast and some dough towards the end, with a big grassy and perfumey hop kick at the finish, but no real bitterness here. Aftertaste is still very dry with mainly the malts, bread and yeast punching through, with all of the alcohol and hop bitterness hidden completely and while there was no sweetness here at all, this ends with a very simplistic, dry profile. Overall, a dry, subdued and soft IPA that really tastes like an 'IPL', since this is devoid of complexity and range. Decent at best, even sampled fresh, which is sad, because the other beer that I had from the brewery was GREAT! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 03-August-2021 for US$3,99, canned on 17-June-2021 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 14-October-2021.

Ridiculously hazy golden coloured body with a thick, four to five centimetre tall tan head that's microfoamed, very crisp and even slighlty oily on top, covering the deeply (90 per cent) opaque glow nicely. Aroma of citrus fruits, mangoes, malts, wheat, spicey yeast and even a dash of fresh coriander seed and some sweet candy towards the end of the nose - very strong and quite nice. Full-bodied; Very rich malts show at first with a lot of flowers and dryness showing, but almost immediately giving way to the citrus fruits and rich sweetness from mangoes and even candy (starbursts) with a lot of strength throughout, and while the hops are really strong here, the malts more than just hold up the side of the beer - they add to the quality and complexity. Aftertaste is full of flavours, too, especially the rich malts and residual sugar left here, with some candy and full mangoes on display here, as well as orange juice. Overall, a nice ,very rich, deep and fruity IPA with some (not much though) bitterness and a great malt backbone, but even better look for the style. Great to try very fresh from a great store - I'll be looking for more from this brewery in the future! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Siciliano's in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 03-August-2021 for US$3,99, canned on 29-April-2021 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 26-September-2021.
