Description
18th Street Brewery in Hammond, IN is a brewpub, taproom, and bottle shop. We specialize in hand-crafted big, small, barrel-aged and even sour beers.

18th Street Brewery was founded as a home brewery by Drew Fox in 2010. After years of hands-on learning and exploration, 18th Street Brewery became official with the release of Sinister DIPA in 2013. Shortly after the Sinister release, we opened a 3,200 square foot brewpub in Gary, IN. Quickly outgrowing that space, we purchased a 32,000 square foot warehouse in Hammond, IN. Our Hammond location now houses our production, packaging, barrel program, a taproom and a full service kitchen. Our original Gary, IN now houses a small 10-barrel open fermentation system, as well as a taproom, craft cocktail bar and kitchen.

We are currently the second largest brewery in Northwest Indiana. Our beers range from saisons to double India Pale Ales to double milk stouts to pilsners and lagers. 18th Street is comprised of hard working, motivated individuals who strive to be the best. We love our jobs. We love our beer. We live and love what we do.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black foamy two finger head which dissipated mildly to leave some messy lace
Aroma: boatloads of cocoa nibs and smooth creamy tones enliven a rich roasty malty base, sweet coffee tones come in somewhat earthy and quaint
Flavor: big sweet to roasty coffee tones, cream and coming across like milk chocolate; mild aftertaste of milk chocolate
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper; semi-creamy along my tongue; finishes semi-roasty with an ample chocolatey sweet smoothness
Overall: way better than the other beer I had by these guys, I would definitely come back to this one.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: ruddy bronzed orange color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated mildly to leave some messy lace
Aroma: some pineapple, grapefruit and pine rolling into a big bready malt base
Flavor: semi-sweet with a brisk maltiness trying to balance but ends up overtaking the malts and becomes fairly malty in the aftertaste
Texture: medium bodied, somewhat a sipper; some smoothness along my tongue, mild finish of bitter hops and smooth dried maltiness
Overall: nothing to knock my socks off and to be honest, I can't see the kids these days liking this either.

Bottom of can date stamped 03/05/2025. Getting a bit old, smells and tastes like it. Aromas and flavors are a mix of old resin, citrus and MJ with malt. Maybe I can finish it, not sure.

On tap @ BPBW, Saturday session. Surprisingly (well at least I was surprised) fruity and somewhat sweetish DIPA, with the usualy characteristics of the style. Light to medium bodied (compared to its style ofc) with average carbo, easy to drink.

Can at home. Aroma is strong liquorice, roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, hint of dark fruits Flavour is about medium sweet and moderate roasty bitter. Body is medium. Pretty good Oatmeal Stout, just a bit heavy on the liquorice for my taste.

Can from Beerdome while checking out the selftitled Drude album. Aroma is strong candied fruits with canned peach, malt, sweet citrus, candied orange, bubblegum, sugary and floral-ish notes, turkish delight. Flavour is sugary sweet with a mild bitterness. Body is medium. Sugary and candied with bubblegum, not my kind of IIPA. I like the band much better than the beer.
