Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 12A, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Batch PA112017 (BBF 09/2018). AROMA: medium cereal husk notes with a sweet malt background with an underattenutaed character. APPEARANCE: dark gold color and clear. medium ivory head with low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma (cereal husk, slight sulphur and cabbage), with a yeasty presence. medium-low bitterness evolving into a semi-dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE medium-low to low body. medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a sample still in its best before date but with execution and aging problems.

33 cl bottle in Confeitaria da ponte, Amarante (over the river Tamega, on a nice summer afternoon, right opposite the Igreja de São Gonçalo. Difficult to beat.) It pours hazy whitish golden with a nice creamy white head. Aroma starts as pure banana bubble gum, the develops into brioche and bread. Mouthfeel is soft, velvety and refreshing. Mouth-covering finish with no trace of bitterness at all. Quite nice.

Clear amber fox brown colour, firm white head. Aroma of caramel, malts. Relatively light sweet malty flavour, caramel. Malty finish, chocolate, light fruity. Hint of porto wine. Oxidation? It fits, though.
