Description
Stowe Cider was founded in 2013 with a vision of bringing something different to the cider scene- a version that boasted less than half the sweetness of most commercial cider. Once this niche was created to “keep cider dry", demand was high and the location was quickly outgrown. Stowe Cider became a favorite stop among visitors and locals alike. With a move up Mountain Rd. Stowe Cider transitioned into the West Branch Building and combined taproom with an updated production facility. Whether sipping a cider aprés ski, taking a break from a leaf peeping hike, or looking to enjoy some live music, guests are greeted with a consistently rotating tap selection, and more than 10 varieties available to go, no two visits are the same. Head Cider Maker and co-owner Mark Ray is constantly developing unique recipes that you will not find anywhere else. Ciders range from dry and preservative-free to others containing local fruits, hops, and unique barrel-aged offerings.

Bottle: Poured a dirty beige color cider. Aroma of ginger and rum with dry apple notes is more or less appealing. Taste is a weird mix with some off-balance notes of apple and run with light spicy ginger notes with a dry finish. Not what I was expecting and definitely not as complex or drinkable as I was expecting.

Had at Wassail as part of VT cider tasting. This is a crazy concoction but I like it. Nose is big old gin botanicals. Overpowering barrel and juniper. maybe there is some apples underneath but can’t really find. more like a cocktail but interesting.

16oz can pours out a crisp pale straw color. Nose is sulfer berries spice mint and citrus. Taste is more of the berries mint and a dry end.

A hazed golden cider with no head. In aroma, sweet apple purée with light acid notes, lightly doughy. In mouth, a dry crisp sour apple, OK.
