On tap at VCBW Festival 2017, pours a cloud my opaque dull peachy pink with a medium white head. Aroma brings out subdued tart strawberries and rhubarb, with a touch of lacto. Flavour is rather obscured, with lots of lacto and faded fruits. Little complexity and not very clean. Amateur local kettle sour like so many others.

Draught at 12 Kings, Vancouver
Hazy blond color, compact head. Butter and grains aroma. Smooth, delicate malts, the hops are weedy, some chamomile, and piney resins, but also some butter. Flawed, luckily I smell real weed from out of the door and I don’t totally hate this.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color, compact beige head. The aroma of roasted malts is complemented by a mild cheesy touch. Good body, smooth mouthfeel, dry; roasted malt flavor, some coffee, and resiny hops; some sourness from the dark malts, a bit ashy in the final.
Very "dark" beer, enjoyable.

Draught @ 12 Kings. Pretty close to dropping totally bright...maybe missing the mark on the appearance a bit. Thin head. Butter first, with berryish fruity hops. Bitter, lots of diacetyl, fairly assertive fruity hop character. Way off style, and with a major diacetyl problem to boot. I bet folks with low diacetyl sensitivity would like this.

On tap at 12 Kings, pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is nothing but diacetyl, just nasty. Flavour isn't quite as bad, but certainly has buttered popcorn dominating this. How can you put this stuff out?

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma is quite restrained, with dry apple and pear must, and subdued floral dry hopping. Flavour is along the same lines, with a vinous, Belgian-style yeast character, dry apple and pear must, and floral dry hopping. Not particularly deep or interesting - the different elements don't expose themselves all that much. Solid nonetheless, just underwhelming.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma brings out moderately roasted malt, some lightly tart fruitiness and piney hops. Flavour is nice and bold, with a mix of robust roasted malt and aggressive hopping. Slightly on the harsh side of things, but I like the boldness. Nicely constructed - one of the better and more interesting black IPAs.

Draught @ St. Augs. Dark brown with a thin head. Aroma has that typical danky hop and chocolate malt you get in a black IPA...not surprised. Earthy, toasty, lots of galaxy and lots of chocolate and toasty malt. Black IPA by any other name...
