Pale and a bit hazy. No head. Lots of oak smoke up front. Lactic tartness. Nice juicy yuzu. The yuzu is what’s different from last year, and it adds a really intriguing element to one of my favourite HoF beers.

Pale, just a slight haze. Not much head. Ok, the malts are good, as expected. Full helles-style pale malts. Not hoppy enough. I have no idea where the idea comes from that kellerbier isn’t a hop bomb, but most brewers in North America really underhop this style. The hops are good, herbal, the balance quite pleasing if you’re not looking for a kellerbier. Good beer, misnamed.

This has a really attractive salmon colour. On the nose, bright fruit and berries. It's got a nice tartness, and a sweet berry note. I'd say there's some complexity to the fruit, fairly tart. Fresh and tasty.

New rating: on tap at House of Funk, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. This is much better — big time cleaned up, with gentle tartness and rustic saison yeast. Clean and well-made. Old rating: 473mL can, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is appalling, with shit tons of diacetyl, rotting fruits, and rustic saison yeast. Flavour is vile, with lots of butter and rotting fruits. The saison yeast is further back, and the hops aren't too noticeable. Messed up in many way.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy peachy pink with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with bay leafs, low-moderate acidity, and light tart berries. Flavour is earthy, with plenty of bay leaf, tart light berries, and oak. Earthy and tart, with light acidity. Somehow, the bay leaves work really well, and the acidity is kept to a minimum. Well-done.

On tap at House of Funk, pours an opaque cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma doesn't really bring out much of the fruit, but seems to exude the chaotic, rather earthy kveik yeast, along with some tartness and lacto. Flavour is appalling, with a nasty dirty water character that perhaps is from the kveik; there's no fruit detectable, nor hops, just dirty, soap-like notes. There must be something wrong with this. Awful.

On tap at House of Funk, pours a cloudy bright golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of mango and guava fruit juice, along with a bed of lacto, and sweetness from the lactose. Flavour is sweet, fruity and lacto-y, with lots of mango fruit juice, tropical guava, and lactose. The yogurty character is more noticeable in this volume than others, but it's not too dominant. Fun smoothie beer.
