Description
This team of owner-operators was formed shortly after the group realized they all were after the same thing, just in different parts of the province. Brewer John Folinsbee was planning a brewery in Squamish, industry veteran Marc Roberts had his sights on Vancouver while entrepreneur Ben Reeder and builder Adam Steinberg were looking at brewing in the Cowichan Valley on Reeder’s hop farm. After tasting John’s recipes they decided to go all in and combine forces to build the 6000 square foot brewery, tasting room and kitchen in Squamish.

Opaque and dullish. This one’s burny as fuck with no real hop expression otherwise. Below the standards of both breweries…Badlands especially.

Opaque and pale, medium head. Lychee and stone fruit hop accents, decent body, typical backcountry sweetness. Lowish bitterness, not burny but not super bright either. Middling.

473ml can. Pours a cloudy gold yellow with a medium, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves sticky curtains of soapy lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready wheat malt, orange, nectarine, pineapple and herbal hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready wheat malt, grapefruit, nectarine, pineapple, papaya, green grape and hop resin in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth texture and soft carbonation. Juicy and easy to put back.

Aroma: tropical fruits, somewhat juicy, a bit of booze.
Taste: along the same lines, low to moderately sweet and bitter, juicy. A bit of booze, too.
Overall: enjoyable, but I wish it would be smoother as Third Moon in their best days...

473 ml can. Pours amber with moderate head. Aromas of dank hops, resin, melons, candied pineapple, a little pine and bready malts. Flavors follow same with a bit more tropical influence. Overall a little flat for me and would have been really enjoyable with more carbonation, but otherwise a very good WIPA

Poured from 473mL can. Murky dull blonde with small white head. Nice tropical hops with feint dankness and a touch of citrus, lightly yeasty on the backend, fairly decent.

473mL can, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Nose has a delightful mix of bright NZ melony hops—man, that Riwaka comes out great—with a touch of allium from the Citra, pine, and oily resins. Flavour is super bright, with that Riwaka coming through beautifully—tons of tangy melon, gooseberry, white wine-ish—with light allium, oily pine, and crisp biscuity malt. One of us Backcountry’s best WCIPAs in quite some time. Bright, clean, immensely drinkable. Excellent.
