Description
This team of owner-operators was formed shortly after the group realized they all were after the same thing, just in different parts of the province. Brewer John Folinsbee was planning a brewery in Squamish, industry veteran Marc Roberts had his sights on Vancouver while entrepreneur Ben Reeder and builder Adam Steinberg were looking at brewing in the Cowichan Valley on Reeder’s hop farm. After tasting John’s recipes they decided to go all in and combine forces to build the 6000 square foot brewery, tasting room and kitchen in Squamish.

473ml can. Pours a cloudy gold yellow with yeast particles that settle on the bottom and a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves sticky curtains of soapy lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready wheat malt, grapefruit, mango, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready wheat malt, grapefruit zest, lime, mango, cantaloupe melon, earthy yeast and light pine in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Juicy and delicious.

On tap at The Magnet, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is full of diacetyl—nothing but butter, fuck right off. Flavour is also a complete diacetyl bomb… fuck off to hell, is this bad. I didn’t think Backcountry would release something this messed up.

Dullish hazy. No head. Hmm…more changing colours here. Hop burn, some basic malt, vague fruity hop.

Nitro pour. Like a suped up irish stout, chocolate, slightly nutty, moderate bitterness but not unbalanced.
