Description
This team of owner-operators was formed shortly after the group realized they all were after the same thing, just in different parts of the province. Brewer John Folinsbee was planning a brewery in Squamish, industry veteran Marc Roberts had his sights on Vancouver while entrepreneur Ben Reeder and builder Adam Steinberg were looking at brewing in the Cowichan Valley on Reeder’s hop farm. After tasting John’s recipes they decided to go all in and combine forces to build the 6000 square foot brewery, tasting room and kitchen in Squamish.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of chai spice—cardamom especially—with coffee, vanilla, and subtle bourbon. Flavour has plenty of coconut and cardamom upfront, with plenty of sugars, vanilla, and very subtle. As pictoman says, could use more bourbon character; also could use less sweetness. But surprisingly excellent.

Gold, white head. Fruity floral nose. Overly floral palate, vague fruit with medium strength lasting hop bitterness. Also something odd I can't identify

Pours thick, black, with a thin head. Aroma has a fair amount of coconut. On the palate, it's rich, with lots of oily toasted coconut character, and deep chocolate. Sweet, boozy finish with a somewhat mellow barrel character.

Dark brown. Pours with a thin head. There's a fair bit of orange on this, both in the nose and on the palate. The stout is big and fairly rich, mostly chocolatey. Somewhat boozy in the finish. I won't say ineffective; more like I'm not a big chocolate orange guy.

Opaque hazy, with a big fluffy head. Stone fruit and gooseberry aroma. Sweet and thick malts. Some hop burn in the finish, along with a shot of alcohol. It's okay, typical hazy.

473mL can, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of bourbon barrels, some heat, molasses, and moderate roast. Flavour is full of complex bourbon barrels, molasses, brown sugar, and booze. Integrated well, nicely bourbony and reasonably boozy. Very good.

Poured from the tap. Very dark brown with small beige head. Lots of chai spice, mild coffee and vanilla underlay, feint coconut in the background. Could use a hint more of the bourbon barrel, but quite nice.

Poured from the tap. Near black with small beige head. Orange peel forward with feint chocolate. Orange overpowers here creating a slight imbalance. Also, thinner medium body.

Poured from the tap. Very dark brown with small beige head. Some cola, coconut, bourbon. Original is better and not sure where that cola is coming from.

Poured from the tap. Near black with small beige head. Bourbon and oak forward with mild chocolate. Integration of the bourbon seems a little bit more balanced than last year.
