Description
This team of owner-operators was formed shortly after the group realized they all were after the same thing, just in different parts of the province. Brewer John Folinsbee was planning a brewery in Squamish, industry veteran Marc Roberts had his sights on Vancouver while entrepreneur Ben Reeder and builder Adam Steinberg were looking at brewing in the Cowichan Valley on Reeder’s hop farm. After tasting John’s recipes they decided to go all in and combine forces to build the 6000 square foot brewery, tasting room and kitchen in Squamish.

Opaque and pale. Sweet and orangey, a bit chalky towards the finish. On the sweeter side, in the way of the Widowmaker.

Poured from 473mL can (thanks for saving Fiulijn). Dark brown with no head. The cinnamon, vanilla, and cayenne are all fairly balanced with each other. Not a particular standout, but decently done.

16oz @ Matt's new place. Appearance: dark brown with a tan head. Aroma: spicy, booze, some chocolate. Taste: along the same lines, very spicy. Overall: too much spice.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out cocoa, vanilla, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and roasted malt. Flavour is a bit jumbled, with cinnamon, cocoa, coconut, chili pepper, and vanilla. Not exactly cohesive -- there's a jumbled earthy character to it. Haphazard and lacking integration.

Dark brown. Thin head. The aroma has a good dose of vanilla and coconut, with a fair bit of chocolate as well. The cayenne lends some heat, and then the cinnamon and vanilla kick into the finish.

473 ml can. Pours a hay colour with moderate head. Aromas of sulphur, coriander, lemon, cereal and a bit of wheaty malts. Flavors flow same minus sulphur and with more lemon.

On tap at Darby's, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp crackery malt and light grassy malt. Flavour is timid, with gentle grassy hops, crisp crackery malt and straw. Way under-hopped, with a lightly crisp finish. Needs more hops. Okay.

473mL can, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out a nice piney west coast hoppiness and a touch of tropical. Flavour reveals a nice potent Mosaic character, with plenty of tropical fruit, citrus peel, and crisp piney hops. Not IPA-level hoppiness, but the hop character is pronounced and well dialled-in. Very good.
