Description
This team of owner-operators was formed shortly after the group realized they all were after the same thing, just in different parts of the province. Brewer John Folinsbee was planning a brewery in Squamish, industry veteran Marc Roberts had his sights on Vancouver while entrepreneur Ben Reeder and builder Adam Steinberg were looking at brewing in the Cowichan Valley on Reeder’s hop farm. After tasting John’s recipes they decided to go all in and combine forces to build the 6000 square foot brewery, tasting room and kitchen in Squamish.

Golden amber, thin head. Bready, a bit of sweetness, kiss of amber malt. Lowish bitterness but decent.

Sweet lots of coconut, decent lime and tartness, good body. By the numbers, does the obvious.

Toasty, nice chocolate and dry hop. Good balance, hitting the right notes for an irish-style stout.

Can. Murked out and dull beige colour. Smells like a kettle sour with guava and lime. Tastes like a kettle sour with guava and lime. I don't mind the guava and I guess the lime lends a decent accent, but I'm like where's the passionfruit at? If we're going to do the obvious thing. A practice beer for the rookie brewer.

Pale amber with a slight haze. Thin head. Sweet bready malt, slightly doughy, touch of caramel. Not much bitterness, so the malts need to be brighter to make it really pop. It's okay, but lacks the richness of a really great lager.

16oz @ Alex's. Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: roasted malts, don't really feel any adjuncts here. Taste: along the same lines. Overall: this is a stout, yes. Are there adjuncts? No.

273 ml can. Pours a dark cola/black with no head. Aromas of bourbon alcohol, charred oak, dark fruit, and roasted malts. Flavors of raisins, figs, dark oak, boozy bourbon, a bit of vanilla, and roasted malts. Just a bit too much booze for me, distracting from what would have been rich flavors. More subtle bourbon barrel would have made this great IMHO.

Opaque, orangey-yellow sort of colour. Thick head. Hop notes kick off dried apricots, pomelo, and green grapes. On the palate, medium bitterness, more citrusy notes, again stone fruits. Malts are okay, a bit in the direction of sticky.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of rich bourbon barrels, light smoke, and medium roast. Flavour is extremely heavy on the charred bourbon, with almost a tartness to it, along with booze. Very boozy and strong, but has a nice bourbon barrel character to it. Intense albeit harsh.

Coconut and vanilla, some roast. Decent balance. Oily and slick kind of consistency. Bittersweet finish. Vanilla kind of cloys. Can.
