Brewery Martens has been in business for 260 years. Throughout our rich history, which remains embedded in our native town of Bocholt to this very day, the brewery has always remained in hands of the Martens family. Yet, while we put great store by our family history, all eight generations of the Martens family have also continuously been driven by innovation and state-of-the-art processes, which is what has made us into one of the most modern and innovative breweries in the country today.

Can. Clear, pale golden with a small white head. Malty sweetness and grainy notes in the aroma and flavor. Thin body with hints of bitterness in the finish. A Dutch-named beer, brewed by a Belgian brewer for the Spanish market. That should be a warning clear enough... (060929)

Bottle 0,25l at The Belgian Monk Norwich 26 Sep 06.Dark golden coloured. Fruity aroma. Easy to stir up a creamy head. Mild, rounded fruity flavour. Sweet lasting finish.

Very much a Euro lager in the aroma and flavor. It really isn’t bad, for what it is. Low carbonation. Yellow and only a thin lace of white foam on top of the beer. Light and actually very drinkable. One of the best light, pale lagers I have found. But weird corn and chemical aromas start to come out as it warms, so drink this cold.

Can (BB 03/2007). Courtesy of oh6gdx. Golden color, decent white head, lively carbonation. Very strong metallic aroma, some malts, but that iron is dominating. Carbonated, a bit watery, metallic maltyness. Harsh aftertaste, faint hops there too. I wonder why this one is imported to Finland.

Geruch wie erwartet - selbst Wasser duftet mehr. Die Aromen sind Goldbier-typisch nicht gerade stark ausgeprägt, doch wundert mich bei diesem Billigbier ein tatsächlich vorhandenes, für Goldbier überraschend starkers herbes Aroma, welches den Mittelteil bestimmt. Im Abgang ist es auch noch zu schmecken, außerdem schmeckt es dort leicht dumpf. Maternus überrascht mich ein zweites Mal. Test vom 8.6.2006, Gebinde: PET Noten: 6,9,9,9,6,9 - 8,55

Auch dieses Bier könnte Gold hinter dem Namen stehen haben, die Aromen sind recht spärlich ausgelegt. Am positivsten ist noch das feinherbe Aroma im Mittelteil, zu dem im Abgang ein minimal hopfiges Aroma kommt. Etwas bitter schmeckt das Ganze auch noch, auch , wenn das nicht wirklich zum Bier passt. Fruchtiger, aber auch herber Geruch. Nur leicht fruchtig schmeckt das Getränk, im Abgang lässt sich, wenn auch nur in einer sehr geringen Konzentration, eine leichte Herbe neben dem süßlichen Aroma feststellen. Ich bin glücklich, dass dieses Zeug nicht nach Green Lemon schmeckt, es ist als normales Radler anzusiedeln, genau so schmeckt es. Dennoch zu lasch, Bier ist mal wieder kaum zu schmecken.
