Poured from the tap. Clear blonde gold with small white head. Light bready cracker malt with a bit of grass and some bitter herbal notes. The herbal notes bring it down a notch.

Blond colour, clean, compact head. Interesting aroma, it combines the white bread from the malt with the classic Nelson Sauvin pungent character. It's dry but not weak, with a touch of sweetness but balanced by the bitterness, some crispy malts, and again that Nelson Sauvin character.
I wonder if they got inspired by the Persephone Amarillo Pilsner; this hop has a much more singular character, it stands out, the result is hardly a Pilsner, but nevertheless an excellent brew.

473mL can, pours a clear blonde with a medium white head. Nose really brings out those beautiful Nelson hops, with a white wine tanginess shining bright, along with a crisp biscuity malt backbone. Flavour does not disappoint, with a wonderfully white wine tanginess from the Nelson and a sufficiently crisp biscuity malt backbone. My favourite hop shines here. Not the most crisp pilsner, but the brightness of the hops really make this excellent.

Effervescent gold. Briny with a touch of pineapple. Light soured fruit with a light briny finish. Not bad, but pineapple really doesn't come through.

Dark amber-brown. Thin head. Has some of that toffee dark malt...not in that high melanoidin way the classic doppelbocks have. But let's get real, is that even expected in North America? So not a bad beer, but with that asterisk of *for North America.

It's very smooth, there's and elegant Imperial Stout here, not very deep, but with good chocolate notes, and mild sweetness; the Port barrel adds a delicate note, a gentle fruitiness, that builds on the chocolate and complements it perfectly. The finish is smooth but weaker/shorter than I'm getting used to. Very good.

Edited the ABV to say 9%, which is what was at the brewery. On tap at Slackwater. OK, this is heavy on the port. I didn't actually know La Frenz made one, thought it would be Black Sage. Figs and raisins and brown sugar. Damn. Fruity, with light alcohol. This is good shit, though it's really heavy on the port character. But I appreciate that it leans into that fruity, acidic figgy raisiny goodness.
