While described as golden and unfiltered, it's actually amber and has only a slight haze. Looks closer to a 90s east coast IPA. Thankfully, it smells more like a modern East Coast IPA with bright tropical fruit and citrus notes (as opposed to diacetyl and stale EKGs). On the palate, the malt base is okay, but brings more juicy sweetness than their Fog beer. This helps support the bright hop notes, which are again vague, but tropical and citrusy. I think by the appearance they missed a little bit on what they were after, but I don't mind. It's a decent IPA regardless, and I've always got time for that.

It's a hazy thing, pretty dull looking. It's about as advertised, with a light pineapple character, a moderate sourness, a dash of salt. Not much for malt, and certainly not going to win any prizes, but it comes as advertised, is serviceable in that respect, and that's that.

473 ml can. Pours a deep mahogany color with moderate head that settles quickly. Aromas of golden raisins, toffee, a bit of Christmas spice and rye bread. Flavors of bread crust, root beer, raisins and metallic malts. Light vegetal malty finish.

Poured from the tap. Black with small beige head. Port barrel is quite prominent. Vinous, dark fruits, underlying roast malt, some tannin and oak. Pretty good, but I think it would be even better just a tad bit heavier. Wondering if aging a bottle of this may be worth a trying.

500mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose is very pleasant, with plenty of funk, tart citrus, and oak. Flavour has an interesting expression of bugs, with gentle funk, a touch of tartness, some oak, and a sort of honeyed malt character. There's a touch of residual sweetness, but the bugs cover it over. The complexity isn't terribly deep, but I do like the buggy character. Unusual. I like it.

On tap at Curious. Hazy straw. Thin head. It's okay. The sour is a bit on the yoghurty/funky side, in a not great way. Light fruit notes but not a ton. So just okay, and at the low end of that.

500mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with no head β this one's flat. Nose is loaded with honey, a little chamomile, and maybe a touch of farmhouse notes. Flavour is almost like kombucha, with honey, chamomile, and moderate acidity that ends up coming out more harshly because the carbonation is totally flat. This doesn't seem like it was intended. The flatness of this doesn't lend well to the body. Not a disaster, but this is definitely subpar.

On tap at Bells & Whistles - Fraser, pours jet black with a medium tan head. Aroma is loaded with intense port red wine, some tannins, oaky wood, and moderate roast. Flavour is remarkably rich and vinous, with sweet port red wine notes, dark fruits, and moderate roasted malt. Those port barrels impart a wonderful depth, lending equal parts vinous character, dark fruits, and residual sugars. Excellent.

Draught @ Curious. Sort of a dullish looking beer, and it's funny because it's all round middling. Nothing wrong with the fruity aroma, nothing right. Light bitterness, just enough. The malt and hop expression is okay on the palate, but nothing special or memorable. So a beer you can drink, but you won't care about.

Pours without a head, the body is a dull palish colour. I mean on one hand it doesn't look good but on the other hand it looks like unblended lambic. The aroma is floral and buggy. On the palate, a light bugginess, again floral, there's a nice sweet note as it they put honey into this beer, but it says it was bottled in July and hasn't carbonated so that can't be what happened. I like that aspect of the beer, as it makes for a final product that's soft, rounded and still carries a decent amount of complexity.
