29/10/2024. Draft at Art Monster (Ikseon-dong), Seoul. Pours very dark brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is roasted, chocolate, coffee, earthy, liquorice, charcoal, dark fruits. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, quite fizzy. It’s fine but over-carbonated.

19/10/2024. Draft at Hugus Beer Pub, Busan. Pours clear deep amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, caramac, chocolate, toast, dried fruits. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, smooth, soft carbonation. Good example of the style.

운짱 oder Ultimate luck, ein mit deutschem Nobelhopfen gebrautes Pilsener von 5,3 %, vom Faß im Artmonster, Ikseon-dong. - Goldgelb, klar. - Enttäuschend schwache Nase, in der nichts an deutschen Aromahopfen erinnert. - Im Antrunk blumig und schwach parfümiert zitronig und grasig hopfenherb, deutlich getreidig hellmalzig und kaum süß. Anklänge an bittere Aprikosen. Die zitronige Hopfung geht in trockene Bittere über. Milder rezent, schlank. - Ein ordentliches Pilsener zu brauen ist doch viel schwieriger als viele meinen. Auch den Weltmeistern aus Ikseon-dong ist es nicht so recht gelungen: die Hopfung ist eher untypisch, fast schräg. (29.9.2024.)

청담동 며느리, vom Faß im Artmonster, 익선동. Angeblich das world best Wiener Lager - an Selbstbewußtsein fehlt es diesen Newcomern jedenfalls nicht. - Die Farbe stimmt schon mal, der Schaum auch; über das nicht stilgerechte Weizenglas will ich mal hinwegsehen. - In der Nase leises Wiener Malz, zarte rote Frucht, dezente orangenfruchtige Hopfung. - Antrunk sahnig weich toastmalzig mit zarter Nuß, fein karamelliger Bonbonssüße, einem Hauch von Honig und einem unpassenden, zum Glück nur schwachen Anflug von Banane. Mild-aromatische orangenfruchtige Hopfung. Enorm weich, füllig und vollmundig aber auch mit leiser Gerstigkeit, die dem Bier eine angenehme leichte Härte verleiht. Im Abgang solide wenngleich überwiegend fruchtige Hopfenherbe. - Tatsächlich ein sehr gutes Wiener Lager, das sich auch gegen die fettige und überwürzte Kost, die in Südkorea beim Bier leider obligatorisch ist, behaupten kann. Draught at Art Monster, small creamy head, clear darkish orange colour, quite malty and yeasty with some citrus and medium herbal bitterness. Nice and easy, quite simple.

Draught at Artmonster, no head, clear vibrant d deepish red colour, vinous and berries and a hint of minerals in the back, medium tartness with a complementing light sweetness. Very nice and really easy to drink.

Taster at Wildcat, Busan. Almost clear, dark red to brown colored. AROMA- strongly peanuts, cookies, some sort of cake, waffles. FLAVOR- slightly sweet, lightly bitter, the same as aroma, a bit earthy and leafy. Medium bodied. Very tasty for me.

(Tap) Clear pale gold with small white head. Peppery aroma. Medium body, well carbonated giving good mouthfeel. Good taste. Pleasant citrus tang, joined by banana, cloves. Very good.

(Tap) Slightly hazy golden. Small white head. Caramel and pepper aroma. Medium body with plenty of fine carbonation giving great mouthfeel. Peppery, banana, candy, caramel. Very nice.

(Can - but this is 5.9%) Black with small tan head. Intense aroma of peanuts with a hint of dark chocolate. Great mouthfeel. Medium bodied with plenty of soft carbonation giving a smooth velvety texture. Taste has some complexity to it, although is dominated by peanuts. There’s some notes of dark chocolate and some of burnt sugar bitterness. Very enjoyable.
