Description
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Some of the best things happen over beer. Ideas are born, friendships forged, deals struck, communities built. That’s how Village Brewery began, friends sharing beers and dreams. Around the table, we had close to a century and a half of brewing experience. One of us was a legendary Canadian brewmaster. Naturally the talk turned to the art and craft of better beer, then to secret sources of malts and hops. By last call we had dreamed up a true community brewery. A brewery that would support Calgary’s artists and craftspeople. A brewery that would create the excellent ales and lagers our friends and neighbors deserve. That talk over beer started the brewery that handcrafted the fine brew you hold in your hand. Please join our table, lift a pint and salute the Village of Calgary. It takes a Village to raise a beer. And a beer to raise a Village.

473ml can. Pours a murky orange gold with yeast particles that sink to the bottom and a medium, fluffy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves thick curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready wheat malt, grapefruit, pineapple, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready wheat malt, tangerine, passionfruit, earthy yeast and light piney hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Juicy and easy to put back.

473ml can. Pours a hazy straw colour with a small, foamy, short lived, white head that laces. Mild aroma of grainy pale malt, honeydew melon, yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy pale malt, honeydew melon, lemon and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a thin, watery texture and average carbonation. Crushable and not bad for what it is.

473 ml can from Systembolaget. Slightly hazy golden colour with a dense, creamy white head. Sweet aroma with lavender, grasses, pale malts, and bread. The taste is light bitter. Medium body with a lively carbonation. Drying finish with lingering lavender. Lavender is not my favourite. However, fairly well balanced in this one.

Can 47,3 cl. Pours an almost clear yellow with a tiny, white head. Fruity with distinctly spicy, herbal notes. Medium body, a lightly sweet fruitiness with distinct lavender and an astringent bitterness. Not a great fan of those botanicals. 050723
