Description
From deep in our mountain spring comes the cleanest, freshest water for our Salt Spring Island Ales. Piped straight from the spring into the brew house, this gorgeous water is combined with organic Canadian two row pale malt and other natural ingredients to create a lineup of distinctly Island-made ales.

Whenever possible, we source local ingredients such as island grown hops, honey and heather. Our highly flavourful beers pair wonderfully with good food and are the perfect accompaniment to locally-sourced gastronomic fare. Brewed entirely by hand, our beer is made in small batches using traditional, unhurried methods.

Bright copper, lasting beige head.Nondescript nose. Light sweet palate with a very late burst of hop bitterness

All butterscotch in nose and flavor. Why would someone make a beer to taste like it had diacetyl? Even if it didn’t?

Poured from 650mL bottle. Near black with dissipating beige head. Mild chocolate and sea salt with a touch of oatmeal. A bit of a watery finish, flavour dissipates too quickly on the palate.

Pours with very modest foam on a deep amber body, relatively clear. Smells strongly of fake vanilla and nothing else, really kind of a foul rotting banana vibe that should not exist at all. Flavour is huge sweet cloying clove and cinnamon and sugar, oozy, mouthfeel is wrong for a beer but maybe okay for a cinnamon bun mid-december. Just overbearing and too hard to drink, maybe if cut with rum it might be nice or used in a sauce for Christmas cake. I'd cook with it, but I wouldn't drink it.

Bomber bottle found somewhere over there. Pours brown with beige head and way too much carbonation and it's gone in an instant. Smells sharply of barley leaning toward cola. Flavour is a lot of subdued barley with chocolate notes. Way too much carbonation on the mouthfeel. Totally unbalanced.

Smells softly of barley with some chocolate notes, has good foam on top of black body. Flavour is a great balance between sweet milk and chocolatey barley. Mouthfeel is full and crisp. This is well done, right on target.

Has good grain sweetness on the nose, great foam on top of a muddy light brown body. Flavour is nice chewy sweet grain, not overpowering but balanced. Mouthfeel is full enough, good crispness. This is well done, properly balanced.

Smells of big ginger with soft malt on the back end. Has a clear brown body with no head. Flavour is mellow malt with ginger on it. Mouthfeel is full enough. It's simplistic, not a bad experiment though.

Smells of soft cream but needs to be stronger. Has good foam on a dark black body. Flavour is soft cream sweetness and heavy roasted barley notes. Mouthfeel is full and crisp. It's okay but everything could be more distinct.

Smells of nice sweet earl grey tea. Has okay foam and medium brown body. Flavour is nice tea character on top of malty notes. Mouthfeel is crisp and full enough. This is a nice mix, it works well.
