Description
From deep in our mountain spring comes the cleanest, freshest water for our Salt Spring Island Ales. Piped straight from the spring into the brew house, this gorgeous water is combined with organic Canadian two row pale malt and other natural ingredients to create a lineup of distinctly Island-made ales.

Whenever possible, we source local ingredients such as island grown hops, honey and heather. Our highly flavourful beers pair wonderfully with good food and are the perfect accompaniment to locally-sourced gastronomic fare. Brewed entirely by hand, our beer is made in small batches using traditional, unhurried methods.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a hazy amber with a small beige head. Aroma is very subdued, with doughy malt and very subdued hops. Flavour is similar, with doughy malt and soft woody hops. Soft palate, with low carbonation. Pretty ordinary, but clean at least. Meh.

Interesting, unique beer. A slight sourness up from is the highlight of this beer. However, after that it's a little boring. Bottle in office.

Hazy light brown. There is a bit of bubbly head. There’s a bit of vanilla, touch of chocolate, but not that much. Sweet chocolate, light cocoa, and a touch of vanilla. Has nothing to do with creme brulee, but it’s not bad.

Black color, frothy brown head. Mild aroma of roasted nuts and dark chocolate, dark bread crust. Lean mouthfeel, not too strong, not sweet, with very good bread and chocolate flavor, dark caramel; some vanilla; there’s the "Brulee", but not the "Crème"; but it’s a very good beer.

650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out notes of caramel, some vanilla beans and a little roast. Flavour is robust, with notes of roasted malt, vanilla beans and a little caramel. Aggressive, with caramel, light astringency and roast on the finish. Nothing special, but it works well.

Bottle - Sweet malts with a touch of spice. Clear amber with a rich off white head. Bitter up front with lots of malts and a long bitter finish. Hops are not very well defined and caramel is the dominant flavor. It is a British Style IPA, so not surprising.
