Amber, fast fading head. Nose and fore of light malt. Balanced mid, lasting hop bitterness in finish. Could use a bigger malt bill

473ml can. Pours a clear gold-amber with a small, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Mild aroma of bready pale malt, red apple and floral hops. Sweet flavour of grainy pale malt, red apple, lemon and earthy yeast in a crisp, dry, bitter grass finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. This was a pleasant surprise. Tasty and crushable. Hats off to the 'kids' at Olds College.

Tasting at Oakes' Manor
Dark brown colour. Weird aroma, soil, some chocolate, some sourness. Mild chocolate flavor, the body is on the weak side, a bit earthy (which I don't necessarily like), but ok.

Tasting at Oakes' Manor
Dark red colour, compact head. A lot of yeast smell, metallic. Dry mouthfeel, some grainy malts, thin, metallic, with some earthy nutty character in the finish.

Tasting at Oakes' Manor
Black colour with tan head. The aroma has some roasted malts and chocolate, simple. The flavour is very toasty, there is some malt sourness, and some ashes in the final, maybe some hop resins.
It's not hard to make a decent Black IPA, this is not one of the better ones. Confused.

Bottle - Touch of nail polish and caramel. Cloudy copper with a decent white head. Bitter and caramel with woody finish. Higher alcohols, not great.

Dark red, with a lot of big phenols, There's a light bitterness, with a touch of gasoline...extract character. So a thin, weakish character. Not working for me.

Bottle - Chocolate and some roast. Deep brown with a small white head. Light bitterness, fruity and a bit sweet. Weird, but not bad.

Dark brown. Thin head. This has a mellow minty, chocolatey note. It's a bit thin, minty, and a chocolatey note. It ends up being a bit thin, not super complex. But it's okay.
