Description
Maui Brewing Company was founded by Garrett Marrero and Melanie Oxley. They started as a single brew-pub, a small restaurant that served its own locally brewed beer in January 2005. Demand for the beer outgrew the space available in the brewpub and in 2007, Maui Brewing Company started producing and packaging beer out of a separate production facility. In 2012 Marrero and Oxley opened yet another larger production facility, which increased their capacity from 18,000 barrels of beer to almost 40,000 barrels.

355mL can, pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, candied sugar and coconut. Flavour is quite sweet: coconut, roasted malts and caramelized sugar. Sweet lingering finish. Great porter.

Pours translucent brown that grows black. Decent head. Smells like coconut and unsweetened chocolate, begging you to go ahead and sip the pint. And then you do, and it turns out that Maui Coconut Porter is pretty damn delicious. The coconut is neither obtrusive or fleeting, rather serving as a solid foundation for this brew. Bittersweet, nutty, and chocolate-covered, this beer is a rare treat on the East Coast. Smooth with easy carbonation, it rolls across your tongue like a puck on an air hockey table. Tasty. (4/6/09)

12 oz can into tumbler. My can reads 5.5% ABV. Pours a hazy gold with a large off-white head that recedes to a half-inch blanket in about a minute; leaves some lace. Has a funky aroma that is strong in wheat, pineapple, SweeTarts; actually smells quite Belgian. Taste is lightly tart with no bitterness. Medium-high carbonation, medium-bodied. Tasty.

Can. Fruity aroma, pineapple, soicy, wheat. Interesting, seems to work. Deep cloudy gold. Sweet and fruity, big pineapple, decent wheat flavor. Tasty, somewhat cocktail like, but it works well enough.

Draught at the Yard House. Coconut and chocolate aroma, somewhat roasty. Coconut is there in the flavor without being dominant. It works rather nicely with chocolate and coffee flavors, giving it a vanilla, creamy character. Decent.
