Appearance: Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a nice dark tan head and some lacing left in the glass
Aroma: Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and I do smell some coconut
Taste: Creamy mouthfeel with roasted malts, chocolate and a hint of coconut flavor
This is a nice porter, the coconut gives it some complexity over a standard porter.

Tap at the Bistro BA fest. At 6.5% Pours black with off-white bubbles. Deep dark chocolate aroma. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is motor oil and chocolate. It finishes that way. The result is wonderful in the mouth.

5th July 2008. Richer and thicker than most porters. The coconut is a light touch on the palate. Some toasted malt but also slighty creamy. No bitterness at all.

Can: Dark brown with a thin beige head. Sweet aroma with dark chocolate, sweetness, and light roast. Tastes very smooth and chocolatey. Roast, sweet, nutty, and toasty. Some of this has to be the coconut... comes together absolutely great. Differrent and fun. Thanks Jordan.

Can. Huge tan pillowy head, slowly diminishing. Deep brown body, approaching black. Pleasant, sweet aroma of cocoa powder, milk chocolate, roasted malt and coconut milk. The flvaor is moderately to heavily sweet, but not cloying, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, velvety texture turning watery, soft carbonation. This reminds me of a sweet oatmeal stout with its slick texture and sweet backbone. Nice balance of bitterness in the finish. Interesting beer.

On tap at Maui Brewing party at Dry Dock in Tokyo. Nice stuff, well balanced, solid malty backbone and decent, but not overwhelming roasty character. Lingering bitter finish. Good stuff.

Light amber color. A bit of smoked cheddar in the nose along with some citrusy hops - which really isnt a good combo, IMO. Mouth switches back and forth between hops and smoke. Slightly bitter finish. The beer is well made, but I will never like this style. I just don’t see how a pale ale and smoke can go together.

12 oz. can, "021109" on bottom. Daknole traded me a couple of Hawaiian brands, but this one actually made in Hawaii gets my first Aloha tick. Pours nearly black under a thick brown head. Smells of milk chocolate and just a whiff of cocoanut. That gives it a nice clean smell, no overly roasted malt. Taste shows some lighter roast malts, slight milk stout character, and a little sourness. I can’t quite pick out cocoanut in the taste; it’s not a favorite of mine, but I think it does add to its milky smoothness. Can carbonation gives it a bit of gassy finish, I’d like to try this on tap if and when I ever to go the islands.

(Canned, Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2009) Pale amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with apricots, orange and citrussy hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of orange, apricots, mandarin and fresh, citrussy hops in the finish. Medium body, a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty beer. Nice.

Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and some cocoa bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Well balanced and smooth, but very tasty and nice.
