Bottled(330ml). -From only supermarket I’ve found in Bremen. I was in a hurry so I didn’t pay attention what I was buying and accidentaly bought this. For Magners I’ve said that it was the last cider for me because I simply don’t like that drink. Savana was yet another conformation that I don’t like ciders at all.

Bottle (5.5%) courtesy of and shared with ozujsko (thanks!) Gee, the first thing I get to rate from South Africa ends up being a cider.... the label shows heaps and heaps of additives/adjunct. Gah. Poured a misty yellow/pale gold colour, with a small white head that went away fast. Quite vinuous nose, dust and more grapes than apples. The taste is, well, not all that brilliant. The cider that seems to be the base nets it notes of both sweet red and sour green apples and sulphury egginess, but that’s drowned by distinctly fake notes of apple aroma and heaps on heaps of sweeteners. Ends up not being all that pleasant and dry is hardly a fitting descriptor. Complex in the wrong way.

Clear golden colour w/ large bubbles. Bright crisp wood & apple skin nose. Soft body. Tart with some icing sugar, gentle apple and late sulphur. Sweet, very approachable finish. In the middle there’s a limey/leathery sort of note...I can’t decide if I like that or not. Probably not.

Bottle from Tesco, Aylesbury 17-07-06. This isn’t really a dry cider, definately sweet, maybe South Africa tastes consider this dry? Poured golden, bit fizzy, sweet apple aroma’s. One overiding thing that I noted in the taste was of a real gingery flavour, appley but nothing great, fairly standard.

340ml bottle from Tesco. Dry? Dry? I don’t think so. Gold colour with thin white head. Chemical perfume aroma, some sweet apple. Fizzy and sweet and horrible in mouth with some apple concentrate. Not sure an actual real apple has ever been anywhere near this. I agree with a previous rating, to be avoided.

A yellow cider, that is quite carbonated, so it starts out with a thick white head, but it doesn’t last long. The aroma is sweet apples, with a hint of acidity. The flavor is sweet, somewhat artificial with a nice laid back apple presence, with a slight acidity, like eating apples that are not quite ripe yet. It is quite refreshing, and the 6% ABV are not tasted.

(Bottle 34 cl) Clear golden with no head. Lightly tart apple aroma. Medium body with lightly chemical notes of apples and pine. Somewhat astringent finish. Not even a fresh sample like this is very good, although extremely popular in South Africa - especially among the female segment. 100508 Earlier rating: (Bottle 34 cl) Courtesy of Hildigöltur. Clear golden with a creamy, white head. Sourish nose, but the flavour is surprisingly sweet, with only a weak, tart edge. Would’ve been OK if it wasn’t for a very unpleasant, odd, chemical tang. 3/3/3/2/6=1.7 260705
