This brew is a clear dark golden color with a medium white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Citrus, herbal hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of grassy hop, grapefruit and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a short citrusy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

In my hand is a bomber of Asylum, purchased on a late summer visit to Vegas. Fairly inexpensive for a tripel which is one of my favorite styles. Expectations are set low, let us see if the folks at Left Coast exceed them. I must point out that the label is painted on, not a paper or vinyl appliqué. Unusual these days. My Cowtown snifter is arrayed for this tasting and the delivery is an opaque yellow veering into orange with a steadfast, solid white head. I detect a quite active carbonation. The scent is yeasty with yellow fruit and white bread. A drink at last, quite aggressive in its opening. Apricot, grain, hay, candied fruit, some spiciness and a bit of bitterness at the backend. A fairly high abv, I notice it sooner rather than later. I’ll say it, I am pleasantly surprised. And I lift my glass in tribute to the yellow dog, we will miss you terribly.

14th Jan 2020, part of a six beer, 5 oz flight at the breweries taproom in Irvine. Lager like in appearance, clear and clean light golden colour, with a fast fading white crown. Light floral nose and taste, slight citrus leanings with a herbal like finish; decent without getting too excited about.

14th Jan 2020, part of a six beer, 5 oz flight at the breweries taproom in Irvine. Cloudy orange slush puppy of a beer, packed with fruitiness and most likely vitamin C. Actually liked it!

Frothy, tan head left a good cover on a dark brown still body. Malt, roast & nutty aroma. Medium bodied, creamy over the palate with light soft back & cloying aft. Sweet lactose, malt, cream, sugar, sweet stone fruit & milk chocolate tastes with hints of coffee & sweet fruity finish. Excellent Stout.
