On tap at Coast Mountain, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of dry earthy toasted malt, light roast and crusty bready malt. Flavour is hearty and dry, with a nice oatmeal character, earthiness, and toastiness. Very gently bitter, with a dry finish. Solid.

On tap at Coast Mountain, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is pulpy and chalky, with some dankness and citrus pithiness. Flavour is low on the bitterness, with pulpy tropical fruits, citrus pith, and gentle dank hops. Juicy and fruity, with low chalkiness. Reasonably done.

On tap at Coast Mountain, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma is rather chalky, with a yogurty character upfront and chalky nonsense in back. Flavour is very yogurty, with lots of lacto, gentle sweetness, and some chalk. A kettle sour with chalk — that's everything that's wrong with modern craft beer.

This is basically black. The aroma shows chocolate, raisins, other dark fruits, wood and toast. On the palate, it's got a medium body...the base beer seems relatively light, but there's a bit of fruitiness and woodiness that makes me wonder if fermentation continued slowly in those barrels to get us here. Whatever the reason, I am thinking it needs a bit more body. The barrel may lend some sweetness but we're talking rhum agricole (~cachaca) here, not a molasses rum. It's lighter and fruitier than I was expecting. Probably closer to a burly Caribbean stout than what I was thinking a rum BA Impy would be like.

Bottle from the brewery, 1 year old
Black colour, medium sized tan head. Cacao and moderate sweetness, not very complex but I guess it's enough for the area of origin; the rum is evident, never the best option for an Imperial Stout though, spirit; body at European level, which means the finish is a bit shorter than you get with American Imperial Stouts.
Good.
