Bottle at Rockwell's at Nemacolin Woodland Resort, Farmington, PA. Pours a clear medium gold color with a small white head and decent retention. Good lacing. Sweet, clean and lightly crisp. Good stuff.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a lager glass. The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange/amber color with a sly transparency to it. Some carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace. Slight lace.
The aroma had some sweet caramel/toffee malts with some nuts and grassy hops.
The flavor was somewhat sweet with that firm dry bitterness at the end. Aftertaste was of caramel malts. Finish was quick and malty.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a good smoothness about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, pretty good amber lager. Probably better with food.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a hazy orange-brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head. Sly lacing.
The aroma had some caramel and toffee malts and some raisin/dark fruitiness.
The flavor copied the aroma decently with a mostly sweet aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sesionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, decent brown ale that I could do again.

On clearance at JRs for $5 a 12 pack, heheh. ’ll rate this but I bet this is just a repop of something else they brew over there in Latrobe, like fort pitt lager. A darker pale beer from a can. A lighter vienna, if it is one. Probably more in the dark lager category but who knows considering all the style changes around here. I’ll just rate it for what it is. Next swig is not too bad. HAs some decent co2 in there. Perhaps some of that melanie city brewing flavor is coming thru but it doesn’t totally ruin it. Mellows out a little as the session continues. Yea, I guess its not bad overall for something made in the old latrobe plant by city. As a PSU alumnus, I liked Joe Pah when he coached here.

12 ounce can thanks forever to my friend Toby. We Are....well if you know it, you know it. JVP didn’t like getting attention much, he lived in a modest house and he never craved the spotlight in the way we might imagine it to be for someone so famous. But I think he’s approve of a nice cold beer from time to time. Pours a clear amber color with a medium white head. A light biscuit and caramel nose. Sweet simple flavor with more toast, light fruit, toffee perhaps. Easygoing and drinkable. To one of the all-time great leaders of men, cheers!
