Sampled on draft at Dive Bar this beer poured a cloudy golden color with a medium sized foamy off white head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet cucumber and yeast. The flavor was sweet, tangy and yeasty with cucumber and melon elements. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Alcohol very well controlled.

Bottle: Hazy, light yellow/gold with a white head. Barley, light honey scent. Taste is sweet barley malt, a bit of mineral bittering. Light, and unremarkable.....but, solid to style.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/21/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, tobacco, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, peppery hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, light smoke/char/dark fruit, herbal, wood, tobacco, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and minimal acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.2%. Overall this is an awesome imperial coffee stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very rich/well rounded imperial stout malt complexity with balanced fruity/nutty coffee; and nice earthy hop balance against sweetness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
