Description
Our award-winning beers aren’t called 'The Great Ales of Wales' for nothing. Brewed with passion and pleasure in South Wales, our prized portfolio truly has something to satisfy every beer connoisseur’s taste buds.

We are a family-run business with brewing in our blood, and this sense of pride can be tasted in every delicious drop crafted on site at our brewery in Swansea.

The present incarnation of Tomos Watkin was started in 1995 by Simon Buckley. In 2002 the Tomos Watkin brewery was acquired by Hurns Beer Company, a drinks distributor based in South Wales. Tomos Watkin first operated from a small brewery in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire and later opened a larger brewery in Swansea.

In August 2023, the Tomos Watkin brewery was purchased by no/low alcohol brewery Drop Bear, who also took over brewing responsibilities for all Tomos Watkin beers. As well as updating the Tomos Watkin brand with several new beers added to their core range, all their beers were made vegan-friendly.

Bottle picked up from Hay on Wye, by the lovely Loz, gawd bless her for seeking me out another beer! Had this beer 07-02-08 Poured dark brown but with a distinctive redness, not ruby coz’ it didn’t glint in that ruby way but there was a definate redness there, nice bit beige head. Aroma is sticky burnt sugar but not as strong as it sounds, tastes of chocolate but with real fruity punch and then a nice slip down your throat sort of diluted treacleness about it, the hops then start to show towards the end and it finishe quite dry, all in all a nice and very decent beer.

Bottle picked up for me by Loz from Hay on Wye, had this tonight 02-02-08 Pours mid gold with white head, sweet nose some honey notes. Tasted quite simple but tasty, good juiciness but also some honey sweetnees floods through, bitterness is there but not that dominant. Like I was alluding to, this is not a complicated beer but still pretty good.

Bottle. (thanks Tony) Clear, copper body, with a beige head. The aroma is a bit roasted, with some coffee. The same goes for the flavor, but there are some fruityness in there as well. A bit to thin mouthfeel. Finishes with some coffee. A decent beer, well suited for the autumn. (070809)

Cask@GBBF2007. Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is hoppy, malty, earthy and quite vegetableish. Flavour is flowery hops and some earth + malts. Refreshing and ok, but not very exciting.
