Aroma is intense roasted malt, liquorice, soy sauce, Vegemite, gravy, malt syrup, cocoa, sherry and vanilla. Taste is very sweet, light to medium bitter, light salty, faint acidic and medium umami. Body is creamy with light carbonation. Finish is long, mostly sweet and very rich and complex with notes of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, liquorice, soy sauce, Vegemite, gravy, cocoa, cola, vanilla, malt syrup. Very rich and complex but still nicely balanced.

Bottle. Color: Black, thin brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, Bourbon, some chocolate and hints of coffee. Taste: Well balanced mix of roasted malt, coffee, Bourbon (incliding vanilla), dark chocolate. Boozy, bit warming mouthfeel. Smooth, lactose. Dry bittery backbone. Full body, below average carbonation. Medium sweet and over moderate to medium bitterness. I'm not a fan of lactose, but besides that it's a very nice Imperial Stout.

Tap @Esbjerg Bryghus. Black, beige head. Malty, perfumy (!?) and roasted aroma. Could be some berries, but hard to place. Roasted, bitter malty flavour and that slightly weird perfumy berry thing. It goes away eventually. Finishes malty sweet.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours jet black with a tiny, rough, brownish head. Fatty curtains in the glass. Rich, sweet roast aroma, brownies even with a vague hint of peat and butter, wauw - that's unclean. Surprisingly only a medium body, some licorice and roast with some oak and a slight tartness from the red wine. Not overly warming finish. I believe this is one of those cases where the base beer is quite a lot better than the barrel variant. 070525
