Draft pour imperial pint at Ruby's, Houston IAH. So good to try an IPA like this after 10 days of going without in the land of lagers. Copper orange pour, very clean, tons of foam head. Precise grapefruit bitter flavor here, cool and lingering. Fresh citrus hops on the nose. Very nice aroma. Overall this IPA has a classic feel upon fist sip. Delicious. Reminds me of a couple IPAs I enjoyed when I first discovered the style long ago, and this style still stands strong. 20 oz of this when I got about 10 minutes between flights.. no problem.

Bottle shared by TJ on 12/9/17.
Ruby-highlighted, dark mahogany body shows good clarity and a light tan head that recedes quickly to a ring.
Smells of meaty cherries. Lots of cherry pie with light chocolate, tobacco, plum, raisin, vanilla and light booze on the end. Not a very beer-oriented nose; rather thin and fruity.
In the mouth it's thin and fruity, with lots of cherry pie character. Astringent finish is not particularly bourbony, though maybe there is some spice buried in there. Thin, undermalted/overattenated texture and body. Low, rather peppery carbonation and a somewhat cheap, sweet, sticky finish. Not particularly good in any aspect.

.5l draft at the Cool River restaurant in the Dallas Love airport. The pour is a clear yellow golden with a small white head. The aroma is a cracker malt with some citrus and grain. The taste is a typical Pils cereal malt along with a bit of the floral grass citrus. The palate is light bodied with active carbonation and a dry mineral finish. Solid.

A recent offering at the local HEB. Purchased a few weeks ago and I will sample tonight. BBH 07 was tried over the Christmas holidays, let us see how this stacks up comparatively. I lift the lid on the 22 oz bomber and pour into my .47 liter New Belgium snifter, perfect for stouts and porters. The liquid is raven black accompanied by a heroic medium-tan head. The scent is dutch chocolate, berry and wheat. With a drink there is an interesting blend of tobacco, dark chocolate, biscuit, a touch of strawberry jam. Espresso, maybe a hint, nothing overwhelming. Truly better than I recall the 007 tasting.

Pretty certain I am tasting the 007 version. The Karbach website indicates a 3/17 release and 12.5% ABV. So there. This bomber was brought back from the Casual Pint in San Angelo, TX. Opened and poured into my Buffalo Bayou snifter I find a coal black liquid topped by a thin but decentlly replenished light brown head. The nose is chocolate, cherry and vanilla. A sip then, wow, very good. Semi-sweet chocolate, leather, a strawberry sweetness finished with a stiff bitterness. The bourbon floats around the perimeter. Porter, stout, whatever, nice.
