After hearing about the Barnone project at Agritopia, Noel called Joe Johnston to see if there were any spots left. Thankfully there was and three days later it was a done deal! While construction on Barnone continued, Noel & Bryan upgraded to a 10-barrel system at their production facility and cranked out beers for their grand opening in November of 2016.

From a can classic hazy lightbpale orange yellow. Great sharp clean pithy citrus aromas and flavors. Quite bitter and dry. Very nice

Poured up on tap at BRI where it exhibits a totally opaque dull gold body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up mango, cantaloupe, earthy grassy hops and then soft oat. The taste delivers smooth berry notes leaning towards strawberry and then it gets into mild juicy mango and cantaloupe flowing into grassy, spicy and even pineapple like bitter hops. This is pretty nice. Soft juicy sweet notes supported weakly by some hop bitterness. It could use a tiny bit more hoppy balance to temper the soft sweetness.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a crystal clear deep gold body that supports a nice white head. The modest aroma offers up malt nuanced pineapple, some thin cantaloupe and then a sliver of citrus with a bit of pine hops toward the end of the draw. The taste delivers rich fairly thick smooth flavor and bitter hops with apricot, strawberry and pineapple as well as some modest grapefruit and kind of a pine hop bitterness. It picks up some thin yet nice orange and tangelo like juicy hop flavor to midway. This is a really nice, sink your teeth into it IIPA. I’ll do this again anytime.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a deep dark used motor oil colored body that supports a mocha colored head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate brownie and then thin oak and bourbon notes. The taste delivers chewy spicy oak and bourbon and then flowing quickly into deep dark roasted malts. To midway some oaky sweet vanilla and chocolate join in creating some rewarding depth and added richness. Really nice sipper with pleasing roastiness and balance with the barrel treatment.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a crystal clear pure gold body that supports a thin white head of foam. The aroma offers up flowery guava, pineapple, cantaloupe and lime cotton candy. The taste delivers pineapple, thin guava and some modest spicy bitter hoppiness. It gets floral and flowery to midway with a lime like nuances. It ends with lingering pineapple and a nice cracker maltiness that comes to the surface injecting a malty aspect to the experience.

32oz growler pours with a modestly hazy pale gold body that has a thin copper hue and supports a tall light tan head. The aroma offers up grapefruit, lime peel, a dash of lemon and then thinly bright floral hop notes above a sliver of bready maltiness. The taste comes across kind of tart citrus fruit with bitter grapefruit, some lemon and a dash of lime. To midway more and more bitter floral hop notes hit to ramp up the hop bitterness a bit more. Behind all of the bitter hops is a mild murmur of maltiness that has a faint bready quality to it. This is bitter forward and it works but not really in my wheel house. Glad to be trying but wouldn’t grab anymore.

Poured up at AZ Strong Beer Fest 2017 where it exhibits a clear deep copper body that has amber hues and supports a tall fluffy tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malts, a dash of roasted malts, some spicy wood leading to kind of a bourbon booziness. The taste delivers some sweetness but then quickly gets into firm spicy oak notes. Then to midway boozy bourbon takes over and it seems to lack that smoothness some bourbon aged beers can have. This is still a pretty tasty sipper. After a few more ounces a light sense of sweet dark fruity esters start to become apparent and this helps create a little more balance and softness up next to the more rugged booziness.
