About

Huge, dense & fine yellowish head over lively carbonated orange-golden beer. Sharpish spicy & yeasty nose; liqueurish aroma as from Mandarine Napoléon, liqueur-sugar, but also lactic, as milk threatening to sour, yoghurt, thick vanillawafers. Coriander and sweet spice in the mouth - and diacetyl... Buttery. Ouch. Buttery, oily feel, slick, medium bodied, good carbonation. Nope. Can’t dig this one. 6/4/4/3/8

Thick dark cream head, pitting in over fully cloudy reddish brown beer. Sweetish nose with quite some chocolate; parsley, wood, pine or dark leaves; dark malts galore, but no trace of burnt grains. Bitterish-sweet (with at last a faint trace of acidity); chocolate and dark green leaves to the front. Medium to well-bodied, slick, feels well-carbonated. Makes me think of a dark Walloon ale, rather than of a stout.

Huge, dense & fine cream-tan head, over fully opaque foxy-ish brown beer. Lots of chocolate, mocha, dark candi sugar, parsley, dry brown bread, dark green leaves. Chocolate, parsley, roasted malts, melanoidins, etc., but also a marked, if mild acidity, that I have trouble to place. Pediococcus? Slick, medium bodied, acidity remaining into the aftertaste; good carbonation. More of the same as the "Lekker dieng" - solid, decent, but nothing anywhere outstanding, nowhere an impression of novel inspiration. 6/4/6/3/12

Huge yellowish dense and stable head leaving lace over hazy copperish-golden beer. Milky nose, grains, toasted malts, spices and quite yeast-intoned. Spicy-yeasty-estery flavour, slightly burning flavour & MF, again quite toasted. Lightly roasted grains, dried seeds and herbs. Finish has clear sweetness, but nowhere cloying. Fiery MF, well-carbonated, maybe medium bodied, slick. Not bad, ever so slightly better, if definitely related to the Boelens version. 6/4/6/3/13

28/XII/16 - 33cl bottle, as "Hosternokke Blond" @ home - BB: 12/I/17 (2016-1504) Thank to Arno for the bottle!

Cloudy orange to amber beer, big creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, oxidised, honey, caramel, some banana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit yeasty, pretty bitter, spicy, bit sweet, some coriander. Aftertaste: some orange peel, malty, some caramel, little sourish, bitter finish.

Huge, dense, snowwhite head, quite stable and lacey, over hazy yellow beer with Grünstich. End of bottle solid yeast. Grainy-malty-diary, milky nose; bit mineral and faintly spicy. Dry-bitterish flavour, bitterhops, wheat (if markedly little wheatsour). Again finish has something sweetish-milky, lactose? Warming up, some human sweat. Dryish feel despite a sweeter finish. Wheatslick, well-carbonated, light to medium bodied. Average, rather than hosternokke. My Zeeland muse won’t even pronounce that.

33cl Bottle, thanks Harmen! Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of sweet floral malts, light spicy, curaçao and coriander. Flavour is likewise, some sweet lemon as well, nice bitterness, soft floral sweetness. Light to medium bodied. Quite nice actually.

Unclear medium golden colour with some yeast particles when fully poured cloudy with a lot of particles, good frothy white head, half-way lasting, heavy lacing. Fruity aroma, malt, yeast, candy sugar, apricot, citrus. Taste medium bitter and light sweet, citrusy, medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, dry bitter aftertaste, herbal notes, not bad.
