Pours clear pale orange color with off white head. Citrus and lemon aromas with some oak. Lemon and oak flavors with some crystal malt. Medium body with average carbonation. The oak and lemony hops work well together. A nice beer to try but too expensive to have again.

(Bottle) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of liquorice, strong black coffee, cocoa, ashes and dark rye bread. Roasted, malty taste with liquorice, black coffee, dark chocolate, a touch of tar and a generous roasty, piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel. Mainly dry, with just a hint of sweetness. Powerful, yet well balanced. Tasty and quite an excellent stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Ariel. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma has a bit of malt and some piney and citric, yet slightly old hops. Flavor has a bit of malty sweetness and decent bitter hoppiness with citrus and light stale notes. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Bottle with a best before date of August 2nd, 2012. Pours with a clear, lighter golden hued body and a just barely off-white head. Good lace and retention. Aromas are fruity, hoppy, grapefruit, citrus zest, tangerine, lots of saw dust, spicy oak and vanilla. The citrus and oak come together with a slight metallic twang. Christmas tree. Light caramel malt. Flavors are green, oaky, spicy, citrusy. Some nice bready malt, vanillin and sawdust. Some under ripe orange. A bit metallic towards the finish. Lively bubbles, lightly tannic, dry.

Bottle with a best before of 26.07.12...hope that is fresh. Pours with a clear golden yellow body with a large, frothy white head. Good color (low crystal hopefully). Looks like some high carbonation, good retention and lace. Aromas are grassy, minerally, stone fruit, light pine. Very mild grainy flavors. Tangerine, saw dust. Pretty clean yeast wise. Candied orange peel. Flavors are a bit disappointing. Straw like, a bit spicy, mild fruit hops. Light mango and dried fruit. Minimal malt. Bitterness is medium to slightly high. Some honey/biscuity malt, but mostly pretty bland overall (sadly). Missing the hop flavor punch (not bitterness) that I am looking for. Lively bubbles, and quite dry. A good basis. I don’t know if this is not fresh, or just not quite there. A very good attempt, and I bet better closer to the source (although still 8 months before the best buy date)!

Bottle at BrewDog Camden. It pours very dark brown, with a thin tan lace. The nose is chocolate, roasted malt, tangy dark fruit and biscuit. The taste is roasted malt, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, some sour tang, wood, chocolate, chewy malt and chocolate digestive biscuit, with a bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and good balance. Nice.

Bottle. Pale gold with a large white head (that’s ahem, downy splendour) . Aroma of gooseberries, lychees, lemon sherbet, white pepper. Soft mouthfeel. A very little light biscuit, tropical fruits, rippling spices at the crisp, bitter finish. As good as, but more Kiwi hop accented than their normal pale ale.

(Bottle) Golden amber colour with lasting, frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with grapefruit, dried apricots, lychee, passion fruit, raspberries and hints of crisp-bread. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of apricots, grapefruit, lychee, gooseberries, crisp-bread and hints of treacle. Long bitter finish with lots of fresh hops, but still staying fairly well balanced. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Excellent IPA with a generous hop profile. Very nice.
