Description
La brasserie artisanale Saint-Monon est une entreprise familiale née en 1996, située à Ambly, à la limite de l’Ardenne et de la Famenne.
Saint-Monon beer was born in 1996 in the heart of the Famenne, land of brigandage and legends located at the gateway to the Belgian Ardennes. This beverage straight out of the imagination of the youngest Walloon brewer in, Pierre Jacob, quickly acquired its letters of nobility.
Pierre Jacob is an industrial engineer in the food industry. Nature, he works with and he respects it. His farm is 100% self-sufficient in electricity, the filtration residues from his beers are converted into food for the village animals, organic waste is composted, he works with recycled paper and cardboard boxes.

Bottled. Reddish amber. Aroma of dusty red berries and crystal malt. Dryisk with clean mouthfeel. Most flavours are restrained. There’s very light caramel, vague yeast character and some more obvious honey. No bitterness. A little bit too subtle, and lacking the malt structure to make it really enjoyable.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of madsberg. Hazy, orangey brown with a beige head. Distinct aroma of ginger - or is it rather the thyme? Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt, very spicy - ginger again - while the finish is dry. 270607

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy especially ginger and cinnamon. The flavor is very sweet with notes of malt, caramel, bread, and spices, ginger being most dominant, leading to a dry spicy end. Thanks MadsBerg for sharing.

Dark muddy brown, not much head. Caramelly, slightly chocolaty aroma. Crisp, yeasty, caramelly but dry dubbel. "Artisanale" feeling. Quite drinkable dessert beer.

Nutty brown color, cloudy, big lively off-white head, lace. "Organic", earthy aroma with spelt and grain. Sour, earthy and spicey flavor. Peppery aftertaste. Quite typical Eastern Belgium farmhouse ale, not the best of them unfortunately.

Bottle, best before 10/2009 Cloudy amber, orange body. Creamy, off-white head. Very lovely looks. Aroma of honey, flowers, herbs, ... The aroma is not bad, but not very complex. Moderately sweet, moderately bitter flavour. Some kind of bitterness attacking the palate of your mouth. Like mint would do. Quite nice, but not very well balanced.
