Bottle at Max’s. Brown, beige head. Aroma of toffee and licorice. Flavor has lots of malt, butterscotch, dark fruit, and good malt character. Interesting. Not a stout.

Bottle at Max’s. Murky chestnut color, big tan head. Aroma of oak and bourbon, some dark fruit. Taste begins with caramel and progresses to raisins and an edge of citric acid. Interesting.

Bottle: Poured a dark cloudy brown color ale with a super large off-white foamy head with great retention and some perfect lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast with some caramel malt and some dry fruits – not a stout per say but good aroma nonetheless. Taste is closer to a dark Belgian ale then a stout with loads of dry fruits ester, some caramel malt and some light lingering sugar. Body is quite full with perfect carbonation and no alcohol was discernible. Well done thought I could never had guess this was a stout form looking and drinking this.

19th October 2008. Cloudy amber brown beer. Sherryish toffee nose. A fruity sherryish start, a little aniseed and licorice. Some red fruit before a brandy/porty robust semi dry fand warming finish. Plummy aftertaste. Complex. Delicious!

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark brown with a long lasting beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, vanilla, slightly herby, chocolate, burnt sugars. Flavours of chocolate, dark malts, some fruit, licorice. Good alcohol burn. Finishes dry and smokey. Nice.

gravity cask at redlight redlight in Orlando, pours hazy amber with a thin off white head that isn’t there for long. Dark fruit and red wine aroma with some citrus notes. Flavor is mellow, the low carbonation is nice and allows more subtle notes of wood and dry wine to come forward. I really enjoyed this, it was a pleasant suprise.

Very fruity aroma, with plums, cherries, chocolate, licorice. Spicy and complex. Medium-dark brown with lots of orange and a huge, fluffy, tan head. Very fruity and alcoholic taste. Mandarin oranges, raisins, and plums, with some brandied chocolate cherries and tons of toffee. Very hoppy, bitter finish. Lots of spicy hot brandy. Wild stuff. Very sweet, very hot, very spicy. I dig it, though at times it seems a bit out of control. Not very stout-like, even for a Belgian stout!

11.2 ounce bottle from Grape & Gourmet in Virginia Beach, VA. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a medium offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of whisky, nougat, smoke, wood, toffee. Taste is caramel, toffee, nuts, smoke, cherries, berries, whisky in the finish as well as an herbal spiciness. Medium bodied.

11.2 ounce bottle from River City Cellars in Richmond, VA. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a medium offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of apple, candi sugar, brown sugar, yeast. Taste is apples, oak, dark malts, cherries, raisin, vanilla. Full bodied. Very faint booze but it is well hidden. Effervescent carbonation. Very good.
