Description
Attic Brew Co. was borne out of years of beer consumption and small scale production. Oli and Sam met at university in Cardiff where their beer obsession began. Sam began brewing in his bedroom of their shared house and continued after graduating, moving back to Birmingham and setting up his home brewery in his attic.

In 2018, after they'd had the ridiculous idea to start a brewery, Oli left his job in London and moved to Birmingham. They took out a loan, rented a run down old industrial unit in Stirchley and bought a small brew kit that was older than they were. Several months of painting, building and, finally, brewing, allowed them to open the taproom doors on the 23rd November 2018.

Attic was greeted with an unbelievable show of support from local drinkers, who bought into their varied beer board and new take on the traditional local (editors note; we continue to be indebted to you all

Tap at Sommar, Waterloo St, Birmingham. Semi-hazed gold with small white head, decent lacing. Some grains, papaya, mango, modest bitterness. Its a bit watered down in flavour but quite pleasant. I've had better table strength beers from Attic brew before now though.

Cask at Head of Steam, Birmingham. Pours black with beige to tanned head. Roasted malt with a slight caramel edge but I found it to be pleasant but somewhat thin. Nice creamy mouthfeel to it though.

330ml can. Near black pour with tanned head. Aroma has plenty of bitter roasted malt and coffee hint but with some softer chocolate and caramel. Taste has a good bold bitter roast and herbal edge with sweeter chocolate biscuit and caramel to balance. Medium+ bodied. Very flavoursome.

Tap at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Reddish-pink and semi-hazy pour with small white head. This one had a nice fruity berry with blackberry the most notable to my senses. Not too sweet but not overly sour either - more tangy than anything. Some maltiness to remind you its a beer. Pretty good.

Can from lowcostbeer.com, consumed 2 months past BBE. Hazy orange gold with big foamy head which fades quickly to leave a small top. Quite a citric aroma with some peach and oats. Taste again is citric and zesty and not in the slightly sour way I imagined from the aroma. Medium bodied, creamy, fine carbonation. Enjoyable
