Very clear golden and copper coloured body with a amber glow and a small, one to two centimetre tall off-white head that is large-bubbled and stay up for a while. Aroma of metal, malt, toffee, caramelised sugars, grain, nuts, earth, apricots and even some oranges. Light-bodied; Strong malty, earthy, nutty and piney flavours dominate with a good malt backbone that supports the moderate hop flavours, but the bready yeastiness and herbal characteristics that show dryness real come out and cut out the hops, richer malts and especially deeper flavours that you'd want being derived from this one. Aftertaste shows some citrus fruits up front with a pleasant bitter bite, but those fade fast and leave just a bit of yeastie and herbal funk at the end that is bready and not very enjoyable and very simplistic. Overall, a pretty boring example of an APA with some very minor hop notes, a dash of caramelised sugars, but more of an earthy and rustic grainy malt that makes this almost veer towards a hoppier Amber Ale than any Pale. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 12-September-2020 for US$2,29 sampled at my house here in Washington on 23-September-2020.
