Description

75 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, bottled 25.02.2012, BBE 25.02.2014
Aroma is sweet and stale with some brown sugar, licorice and hints of sourness. Flavour is sweetish with licorice, some brown sugar, dark fruits and hints of nuts. Coffee starts to add up towards the end of the glass. Your typical (dark) Belgian strong.

Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. It pours clear deep gold with near white head. The aroma offers up sugar sweet mango sweetness that is lightened by some spicy like hops. The taste is smooth and has a mix of smooth sweet malts, grainy malts, citrus hops and some mango like notes. Around the edges I get notes of spicy hops helping this get into the finish. Pretty nice crisp session beer with nice fairly rich flavor yet extremely drinkable.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2012 // clear yellow with a white head // smell is quite fruity & touch sweet, peaches, exotic fruits, tangerines // taste is sweet upfront, fruity, exotic fruits, hops, followed by herbs, grains, yeast, bitter lemon & spices // body is a touch light (too light // too many averaging ‘hop’ beers coming out in Belgium these days

15cl sample @ ZBF’12. Dorée, col blanc fin. Citronné houblonné qui reste bien en avant sur le palais, le tout est sec avec un semblant de houblon donnant un léger côté épicé en bouche, herbacé et ce profile malt typique.

Head gone in secs, over fully opaque, even muddy brown beer with a mossy sheen. Spicy, woody, liquorice but especially dark malts/melanoidins - even a bit of coffee. Seems complex, but I’m wondering. Coffee, and... red chili pepper! Tastes like some chilli pepper enriched sauce or stock - including vegetable oil slickness. The ingredients’ list, however, doesn’t give a hint about any herbs, spices.... Peppery, slighlty burning MF, well-carbonated and seriously grist-slick. Complex, very interesting, but I do not think I’d drink it often, or even have a full 75 cl bottle...
