Pretentious Barrel House is the first dedicated sour brewery in the Columbus Area. Our extensive knowledge of sour beer production and microbe management provides consistent amounts of high-quality sour beer. By manufacturing a wide range of beer along the sour spectrum, our consumers can ease their way into this unique style. Our goal is to produce award-winning sours that change people’s perspectives regarding craft beer.

Sample at the CCBW Six One Pour festival on 05/18/2019. Clear golden color with a medium white head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of guava, vanilla, passionfruit and yeast. The finish is fruity and creamy with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Sample at District Pourhouse during the Deep Tracks Only Cellar Cleaning event for CCBW on 05/17/2019. Clear ruby-purple color with a medium pinkish-white head that burns away steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of dark fruit, oak, yeast and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of tart plum, oak, doughy malt and mildly funky yeast. The finish is tart with a dark fruit and yeast aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Sample at the taproom. Clear pale orange-gold color with a medium thin white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of yeast, citrus and malt. Light body with flavors of tart citrus, Belgian yeast, wheat and bready malt. The finish is tart and slightly funky with a citrusy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample at the taproom. Slightly cloudy dark reddish-amber color with a thin off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Sparse strings of lace. Aroma of tart fruit, spice, vanilla and yeast. Light-bodied with flavors of tart cranberry, vanilla, cinnamon, yeast and doughy malt. The finish is tart and slightly creamy with a cranberry pie aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample at the taproom. Cloudy reddish-mahogany color with a thin off-white head that evaporates quickly to a wispy film. Sparse strings of lacing. Aroma of raspberry, yeast, spice and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of tart raspberry, cinnamon, vanilla and biscuit malt. The finish is tart and slightly creamy with a raspberry pie aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Light-bodied with a tart raspberry character and notes of mildly funky yeast and doughy malt. The finish is tart with a raspberry aftertaste. Good beer all around.

On draught at Bob's Bar during the First Friday Bodhi Cask! event on 11/02/2018. The beer is a slightly hazy amber-orange color with a thin bone white head that recedes steadily to a wispy film. Strings of lace. Aroma of tart citrus, bourbon, cherry and malt. Medium body with flavors of oaky bourbon, dark cherry, orange and malt. The finish is oaky and tart with a cherry and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Sample at Bob's Bar during the First Friday Bodhi Cask! event on 11/02/2018. Clear brown pour with mahogany around the edges, and a thin off-white head that recedes quickly to a wispy film. Sparse strings of lace. Aroma of roast coffee, tart fruit and oak. Medium body with flavors of vinous oak, tart berries, yeast and doughy malt. The finish is roast coffee and tart berry. Good beer all around.

Sparse strings of lace. Tart apricot, yeast and malt aroma. Light-bodied with a tart apricot character and notes of berry, herbal yeast and doughy malt. The finish is tart with an apricot aftertaste. Good beer all around.
