Description
Over 30 varieties of hops are available in the UK, Maltsters are falling over themselves to be innovative in their treatment of barley, micro-breweries are seeing a resurgence. All this makes brewing truly an art form. So with the muse upon us we thought we would get creative and start doing this for ourselves. We’ve set up a micro-brewery at Brogdale Farm in Faversham in Kent. We live near-bye and it’s great for making deliveries across Kent’s North Downs. We’re hoping our beers will be enjoyed by people who have already discovered the delights of crafted beer and we want to cheer-on those new ale drinkers who want to join in with the ale revolution going on in the UK looking for something fresh and modern to drink. If what you’re looking for is “rock-bottom-cheap” and cold enough to freeze your tonsils this may be the wrong place for you, if you want taste and flavour and a genuinely delicious experience then welcome to Mad Cat Brewery and the craft beer revolution.

500 ml bottle from Tiddly Pomme, Faversham. Practically clear golden orange body with a small off-white head. Mild aroma of malt, fruit and a hint of caramel. Flavor is sweet, mild malt, light toast, slightly fruity and not much bitterness for an IPA. Medium body and moderate aftertaste. Drinkable, but quite boring.

Bottle. A clear hazy golden beer with a small off-white head of moderate size. The aroma is lightly citrusy, hints of coffee blending in. Toffee-ish malts, bread and some cheesy hints too. Pretty boring flavor too, mostly malty, with some bitterness and zest. Medium body, pretty dry. Bitter finish. There’s nothing wrong with this one, except it’s boring. 131019

Cask @ The Old Wine Vaults, Faversham. Amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma is light malty with a hint of fruit and berries. Flavor is light, refreshing soft malty, a hint of caramel, fruit and some bitterness. Medium body and moderate bitter aftertaste. OK refreshing session ale, quite pleasant.

Also sampled from bottle. Aroma of toast, caramel and light fruity. Nice mild malt flavor, a bit sharp and metallic bitterness. Medium body with a sharp bitter aftertaste. Decent bitter, but the metallic bitterness gives a lower score than the fresh cask version.
