Description
Formerly known as 'La Face Cachée De La Pomme' and 'Domaine Neige' but those names no longer legally belong to François Pouliot. But this is the same orchard where the original ice cider producer continues his business after losing his trademark names in a legel settlement with his former business partners.

375 ml. bottle shared with Kraddel during the (Ice) Cider/Perry tasting @ Barely Legal Tasting Room. 2009 Vintage. Obtained in a trade with tom10101. Thank you! Drank almost half of the bottle. Pours very dark caramel amber, has this spend time on barrels? Nose is warming spirit-like, boozy, syrupy apple, Sirop de Liège, La Face Cachée de la Pomme-style but tad more overtly spirit-like. Warming sirop de Liège, spirit apple, warming, boozy, thick caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, red apple. Carbonation is only light, I was hopping secretly for a Champagne-type of deal but that is just me. Absolutely awesome but not mind-blowing like Recolte D’Hiver unfortunately.

Corked bottle, courtesy of Matt
Bright sungold color. Deep apple aroma, luscious, mellow, with a note of saffron, close to the aroma of an Ice Cider (7.5). Smooth but dry, with a good body structure; interesting combination of apples and white grape flavors (Viognier?), moderately acidic, with a light woody note; the final is fairly alcoholic, with something strange that may be lactic acid (malo-lactic fermentation), and less interesting than the rest.
Unfortunately it rolls down a slope, from a great aroma, to a good flavor, to a mediocre final, ut it’s a very good apple wine.

2012 Vintage. 750mL bottle, pours a mostly clear pale yellow with no head - completely still. Aroma is fairly dry and tart for an ice cider, with notes of caramelized apple, vanilla, and dry light oak. Flavour is very dry and woody, with notes of wood and oak, followed by tart dry apples and a touch of vanilla. Not at all like La Face Cachee de la Pomme's other offerings I've had. This one is much woodier and dryer, without much sweetness. Quite the alcohol burn as well. Nice take on the style, but this doesn't match the level of greatness as some of their other stuff.

750ML bottle. split 2 ways in stemware. dark orange appearance, not a lot of bubbles compared to most ciders. nose is on the sweeter side with ripened apples and some oak. doesn’t have that fresh apple cider taste, the ice cider added actually makes this a bit hard to swallow. lots of sweetness, not dry at all.will still drink it but not a huge fan.

2006 Reserva enjoyed with Tommy and others.

A - Dark orange almost a bronze gold. Nice alcohol legs, flat obviously.

S - Has a huge fruity apple and pear with a little bit of clove and prune. Nose is pretty huge with lots of fruit

T - Wow. There is a ton of flavor in this one. It has an almost rotten apple finish. up front I get blueberry, apple, honeysuckle and just loads and loads of apple.

M - Thick, viscous and oily. coats every aspect of the tongue and leaves a lot of sweetness

O - This is a very unique cider. I’d love to get more!

2007 vintage. Bottle, pours a clear dark orange with no head. Nose is insanely complex, with loads of apple butterscotch, caramel, sugar and alcohol - wow is this elegant smelling. Flavour is unbelievably complex, with amazing butterscotch, caramel, and candied sugar. Wow, this is magic - on a whole other level of ice ciders that I've experienced. This is the pinnacle. Phenomenal stuff.

200 ml bottle thanks to _angst_! 12% ABV, sampled on August 21, 2014.Took notes as of "Neige cidre de glace - Ice Cider - Premiére.Clear deep golden to copper color, no head, amazing thick legs on the glass. Semi sweet, apple, warm apples in the sun, apple sauce, alcohol scent. Also hints fo spices. Sweet, apples, apple peel from red apples, slight tart taste. Apple, apple peel, apple sauce aftertaste. Rather smooth mouthfeel, a bit tart peel bitter finish. Slight bit warming.Very nice indeed! Works superb as a small glass to enjoy. Very happy to have tasted this!
