Description
Owned and operated by the Oswald men, Omen Brewing specialises in Darker styles of beer. With a predominately dark lineup we offer something for the true dark beer enthusiast as well as those who are afraid of the dark.

Our 10BBL brew house with six 10BBL uni-tanks allows us to make high quality and well balanced beer often enough to keep it fresh and great tasting. Our product is extremally localized and can only be found at select bars, pubs and restaurants though out Edmonton, as well as our tap room.

We love the Alberta brewing community and are proud to be a part of Edmonton. The support we have received this first year of brewing has been overwhelming and fantastic. We really love seeing our regulars enjoy our beer as well as new converts who told us that they “don’t like dark beer,” leave with a couple of Growler or Howler fills.

On tap at Omen, pours a cloudy, basically opaque dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is quite grainy and somewhat spicy, with earthy rye, a little caramel, and bready malt. Flavour is full of banana, a little clove, and spicy, earthy rye. Finished a bit estery. Pleasant.

6.5/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 6 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7
On tap at Omen, pours an amber-tinged dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is sharp, with lots of harsh earthy hops, bit of molasses, and burnt roasted malt. Flavour follows accordingly, with a robust array of bitter earthy, piney hops, and deeply roasted—near burnt—roasted malt. Not too harsh, but it isn't a smooth beer, finishing bitter on the mouthfeel. Good stuff.

On tap at Omen, pours a clear bronze / dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out metallic notes, bready malt and some light esters. Flavour reveals banana, clove, toasted malt, and some residual sweet fruity esters. Competently made, but too much banana for me. Okay.

On nitro tap at Omen, pours black with a medium brown head. Nose is subdued, with some metallic notes and a hint of cocoa. Flavour is more endearing, with light lactose and a hint of cocoa. Creamy body, but with little depth. Pleasant.
