Undated can drunk 8/1/24. Pale brass-to-light bronze. Large, frothy, well-retained, white head. Definitely some chill-haze. Fruity kolsch yeast is bright and interesting. American hops don't jump out at you immediately, which I appreciate. Lots of bread, biscuit, apple, pear. Honestly, not gettin much in the way of hop, which is fine with me. Clean, aromatic. Big breadiness with warm buttered bread and slices of green apple on the side. I do feel the hops lending more bitterness than their European counterparts would, but not getting much hop flavor. Again, this is all to the good, as the yeast here is excellently expressed, fruity, not too dry and papery, with supple malt textures and a kiss of that buttery caramel that almost worries me, but then dies off and just feels like another endearing complexity here.

Undated can drunk 8/1/24. Clear, bright, flaxen-golden. Well-formed/retained, white head. Wow, the scrumptious yeast is just oozing out of this thing. Can smell it from feet away. Bright, herbaceous and gently peppery hops complement without overwhelming. Clean, fragrant with balancing malts adding light biscuit and cracker. Bright florals with hints of papaya and peach, gentle pepper on the edges and a rich maltiness belying its size. Honey, biscuit, a touch of vanilla and gently herbaceous notes with excellent yeast character throughout and just the right amount of bitterness. Good attenuation, clean. Shit ton of flavor and body for 4.2%. Actually compared this side-by-side to Schilling Alexander and this was more dense and flavorful (though Alexander was a bit brighter, crisper, more refreshing).

Undated can drunk 7/31/24. Slightly hazy peach-apricot. Small, white head quickly to feeble cover. Hint of nutty oak and toasted malt with lemony, moderately acidic H. Blanc. Caramel and light oxidation on the finish. Juicy, honey-dense malts augmented by sprucey, white wine and tart lemon from the hops. Great body, depth, attenuation...clean. Interesting for sure. The hops do balance the malts or vice versa, but maybe the hops distract a bit from the yeast/mineral character? Will try another one in a few weeks.

Undated can drunk 7/7/24. Gold. Clear. Gentle smoke in the nose. Herb and flower with good minerality. Clean. Honey-like malt balances easily. Soft, lighter-bodied, but malty. Good dryness on the end without any big intensity of smoke. Lighter woods oke character with lingering herbal spice and sweet malt.

Iโ€™ve a 12 oz can of Dubbel provided by Half Time. Iโ€™m a long time between dubbels, hard to find. My Great Heights tulip glass is prepared to catch the pour and so I do. I tilt hard and get to see a tall creamy top of parchment tan foam with a very dark brown body underneath, rather lacey I can say also. The smell is full with grain, some dark fruit and a bit of herbal. I take a drink and am surprised to find the brew so thin. An okay taste but definitely not more. Malt, dark bread, raisins, yeast and paper. High expectations not fulfilled.

16 ounce can from Lower Merion Beverage in Ardmore, PA. Copper colored pour. Large frothy tan head. Spotty lacing. Toasted malt aroma has a subtle smokiness to it. Sweet toasted malt flavor has notes of toffee and brewed tea. The smoke element is subdued, but flavorful nonetheless. Rustic and complex, this is a gem of a beer.

16oz can c/o Sloth. Excellent stuff. Mildly smoky, still Rauch for sure, but clean and easy drinking too. Really delicious, refreshing. I would drink a lot of this beer if I could.
