Growler shared at Sander Stag. Pours clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Tangy wheat in the nose, lemon peel, light dough, hay. Light sweet flavour with assertive acidity, more lemon juice, faint minerality. Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Tart and acidic on the finish, a little salty, with mild pale bread, dough, straw. Great stuff. Quenching.

Draught at Row 34, 6/16/16.
Auburn-magenta-tinted mahogany body shows light clarity and a dark beige head atop that shows moderate retention.
Red berries, tons of brett lambicus-like character, vanilla, soft oak and light chocolate all provide strong aromatics that are surprisingly balanced, though tend towards the tart/acidic fruity notes of the wild yeast/bacteria. Light acetic and lactic notes make their way in, as they usually do in barrel fermented beers while the strong wheat element keeps things from feeling sharp or aggressive. Alcohol is well-concealed and there are no flaws.
Surprisingly unlike the Singularis version, with a ton more acidity, including fruity, funky, horsey brett, moderate amounts of lactic acid and light acetic tones. Less chocolatey than the Singularis with a strong honey-caramel base that balances nicely and softens the texture in concert with the tight carbonation. Tons of fruity cherry and light vinous notes keep things very bright and soft wood tannins linger on the end with no alcohol or flaw.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is nice with moderate acidity. Lots of pineapple and tropical fruit with some light citrus notes. Light grain notes with some light oak as well. Light vinegar note with some stone fruit and white wine characteristics. Pours a hazy, golden orange with a small, thin head that recedes immediately to the edges and disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with a light sweetness. Lots of pineapple and stone fruit, especially apricot and nectarine. Lighter citrus notes. Medium light oak notes and moderate tannins. A bit of white wine characteristics. A touch of vinegar. Some light malt notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice sour saison. Nice tannins with good fruit notes. Acidity is strong, but not sharp.

Draught at OEC’s 2nd Anniversary on 6/4/16.
So happy to see them put this on....Beautiful pink cherry red body shows some chill haze and a light beige head atop with moderate retention.
Beautifully wed cherries and funk in the nose with tons of horseblanket and just a pinch of sulfur. Soft woodiness calms things a bit and there’s light wheat and earth on the end, as well, for balance. No alcohol or flaw.
Very lightly sweet cherry juice notes immediately give way to an intense lambic-like sourness. Nicely dry but with ample wheat/malt texture, it pours forth horseblanket, heavy minerality, lime-like brett and fruit and wood tannin. Surprisingly similar in structure to the Experimentalis Gooseberry/Raspberry and just as sour, if not more so. Delicious, enamel-cleaning sourness mixed with authentic cherry flavors lingering long on the finish.

Draught at OEC’s 2nd Anniv., 6/4/16.
Brilliant golden-brass body shows a very light haziness and a small but firm white head atop.
Don’t get a ton of actual gooseberry in the nose, though that’s because there’s a tremendous amount of brett and lacto. Very lambic-y nose and the fruits seem very well-integrated. Honey, mineral, earth and maybe just a pinch of raspberry character, but it’s debatable. Regardless, it still smells excellent and there is no overt oakiness, with just a gentle woodiness to it. Not as much barnyard as I’d like, but that’s ok, the wild yeasts still provide tons of band-aid and horseblanket. No alcohol or flaw.
Due to vastly dwindling common availability of good lambics, the general level of sourness I drink these days is much lower than in years past. This one (and oudilis cerasus) definitely challenged my unaccustomed palate as they are HEAVILY sour. Sourness from all directions as dry brett acids, sour lactic acids and even some gooseberry acidity all combine to really pucker the sh*t out of your mouth. High minerality, with some fruit and wood tannins keeping the beer very dry. Thankfully OEC gets incredible malt extraction and the texture is still soft and malty, despite the huge sourness/dryness. Very low on raspberry and no real red wine character. Tight carbonation. Awesome.
