Description
Crafted Artisan Meadery was launched in 2012 in Akron, Ohio with a dedication to producing highly drinkable, modern mead. We take the pre-conceived notion of what mead “is” and throw it out the window by creating mead styles that push the envelope of the category. Gose-inspired Mead? Why not! Bourbon-Barrel Bananas Foster Mead? Sure! Mead that isn’t so sweet that it requires diabetes screening after consumption? You got it!

We believe in creativity over tradition. We believe that the quality of the liquid inside our bottles and behind our labels is the most important thing to our customers. We believe you shouldn’t have to donate plasma to afford a great bottle of mead. We believe that opening the door to the mead category to as many people as possible is why we exist and we’re having a blast doing it! We do not produce beer, grape wine or cider. We make modern mead for everyone.

Sample at the Hoppin’ Frog Tasting Room. Pours a clear rosé wine color with a minimal head and slight legs. Aroma of blueberries and honey. Full-bodied and somewhat syrupy with flavors of mildly tart blueberry, honey and spice. The finish is fruity with a blueberry and oak aftertaste. Decent Mead overall.

Some mild fruit flavor, had this at vintage estates, nice place. Water color. Yes, quite dry fer sure, especially when compared to the regular tupelo. Much stronger alky wise. Medicinal finish, In your face fer sure.

On tap at the vintage. Clear watery appearance. Palate is a little watery at first compared to most mead. Alky up front. Some mild fruit in the background but does not hide alky well.

From a bottle at the vintage estate. Clear water looks. Sweet fruity mild perfume. Taste is bitter, I never liked the effect that hops have on mead, ruins it. No nice. Could use some manners. Bitter medicine. Leave hops for the beer dude.
